Robert Zoller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 5, 2020.
Robert E. Zoller, Latinist, medieval scholar and author of the 1980 book the "Lost Key To Prediction" which introduced Medieval astrology to the western Astrological community, died January 24, 2020 in New Paltz, NY at age 72 after a three decade battle with Parkinson's disease. Robert wrote over 10 books, received the internationally recognized Regulus award, co-founder of the NCGR of NY, and lectured extensively in the USA, Canada, Australia, UK, Mexico, and South Africa. History will remember him best for his predictions concerning 9/11 published in the newsletter Nunitius and international astrological conferences. The accuracy of his 9/11 predictions were acknowledged with the Regulus award for astrological excellence in 2002, television appearances like Decoding the Past: The Other Nostradamus, and Benson Bobrick's 2005 book The Fated Sky. Bobrick's future relevance is increased since he is a historian and this book documented the impact the "belief in astrology" had on Western civilization. On page 299, Bobrick quotes the July 1999 issue of Nunitius: "If the U.S. does not stop acting incompetently, it will invite the depredations of adventurers such as Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, (not yet toppled) Slobodan Milosevic, and others." In the August 2000 issue, Robert wrote: "There is an increasing threat to the U.S. citizens and this is particularly so on the Eastern seaboard." The next month and year before 9/11, Robert stated: "I again draw attention to the increasing threat of Islamic terrorist and that it will be felt on the U.S. mainland. The greatest period of danger is in September 2001... I am looking at Islamic terrorism that is rooted in Islamic fundamentalism and directed at everyday citizens going about their daily business in our cities. The destruction and loss of life will shock us all...Our culture and way of life and lives are at risk" [emphasis added]. Robert, a 32nd degree Mason, studied the astrology under the legendary Zoltan Mason and enrolled in NYU's Summer Latin Institute to read medieval astrologers without translator bias. In 1993, Robert Zoller helped created Project Hindsight which intended to translate in to English the entire corpus of the western astrological tradition surviving in the Greek and Latin. He is survived by his brother George E. Zoller. A graveside service will be held at Union Cemetery, Route 301 in Kent Cliffs, New York at 12:30 PM on February 8, 2020.

a brilliant, courageous and inspiring astrologer; it was a pleasure and a privilege to host a talk he gave in England about 15 years ago. I must have felt him go, I've been thinking about him recently.
