Roberta D. Leighton

Roberta D. Leighton, 70 of Greeley, Colorado formerly of Logan, Iowa died on November 6, 2009 at Kenton Manor. She was born January 16, 1939 in Logan and was raised by her mother Marrietta Roggasch and her grandmother Alma Seyler. She graduated from Logan High School in 1958. After high school, Roberta attended Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls, Iowa and obtained her teaching certificate. Roberta taught elementary education for several years as well as working in the food production industry, restaurant and hotel, and the insurance industries. She married William Leighton in Arizona in 1999. She was a member of the Christian Church of Logan, the FOE, and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. Roberta’s hobbies included collecting, reading and gardening. She is survived by her son, Bobby Yocom of Loveland, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marrietta in 1999; common-law husband Irvin Vredenburgh in 1986; and husband William Leighton in 2004. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28 at Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa with visitation from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service.
