LUCE, Roberta T., of New Kent, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard H. Luce Jr. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Beth Madison, Nancy Christian, Barbara Ballard (Donald); five grandchildren, and one great-grandson. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and for many years was chairperson of the altar guild; she also was a tour guide for Berkley Plantation. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in New Kent County. The family will receive friends in the parish hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to IDF SCID Initiative, 40 W. Chesapeake Ave., Towson, Md. 21204 or St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 8400 St. Peter's Lane, New Kent, Va. 23124. Arrangements by Nelsen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond.

Dear Mary Beth, Nancy, Barbara and families, we are deeply saddened by the passing of your Mother and our dear friend, Roberta. We know how much you all will miss her and she will be missed by us all. Like your Dad and Grandparents, Roberta is an icon at St Peter's Church. They gave so much with such grace and love. What good examples of Christian's they are and we appreciate their many gifts of labor and love. I know she was met with open arms and I can only imagine the reunion they are having in heaven.
