Rodney Riviere Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 12, 2015.
Rodney Emile Riviere, age 75, passed away on Tuesday August 11, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Janice Riviere, loving father of Debra Welborn, Michael Riviere (Ramona), David Keith Riviere, Michelle Kemp (James), Travis Tucker (Stacy), and the late Rodney Riviere Jr. and Cheryl Perry. Proud Grandfather of Erica (Justin), Jessica, Lindsay (Derek), Jordyn, Lexie, Sean and Amanda. Great grandfather of Addison, Dominic, Ryder, and Becker. Son of the late Lola Comesana and Joseph Riviere Sr. Brother of Joseph Louis Riviere, Jr. and the late John Louis Riviere. Predeceased by Carol Riviere
In life, Rodney was a true example of being the life of a party. With his Coors Light in hand a quick word in jest, Rodney knew how to make the most of the time he spent with the people he enjoyed. The weekends were reserved for golf and The Saints. Armed with his golf bag and his brother Joe, Rodney left the linx with smile on his face and a beer in hand-regardless of the score (if anyone was keeping one!) The only thing that could get Rodney to miss a tee time was The Saints. On any given Sunday, when The Saints were home at the Dome, Rodney was in his next favorite place to be, in his seat, with a $9.00 Coors and his son Keith, by his side. Rodney loved the spirit of New Orleans. A long time member of the Krewe of Centurions, Rodney celebrated Mardi Gras like royalty.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the Evening Wake at Leitz Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd in Metairie on Friday August 14, 2015 from 6 to 9pm. Visitation will be held on Saturday August 15, 2015 beginning at 9am till time of service at 11am. Interment will be at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan, La. It was a pleasure getting to know Rodney, he was always smiling, cracking a joke, and laughing. He was generous of nature and kind of heart. I am glad that I had the opportunity to meet him and spend time with him. He made my mom really happy. I have very fond memories of just sitting in his kitchen talking with him and my mom, of his amazingly fertile garden (great tomatoes!), and of spending holidays together.
To his family, I am sorry for the passing of your father and grandfather. I know this time is a tough time for everyone, he will be missed.

Rodney,

The last two years of my life were the best because of you. I will miss your easy laughter. I will always remember the way you touched my face and held my chin and kissed me. Thank-you for sharing your life with me, you made me feel so lucky and special. I will miss you and will always love you.

Love always,
your Phyllis
