Rogan Vickers Obituary
Rogan Charles Vickers, age 19, of Wellston, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022, from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born June 30, 2003 in Chillicothe, Ohio to Jeffrey Wayne Vickers and Mary Elizabeth Scurlock Vickers. Rogan was a 2021 graduate of both Wellston High School and Buckeye Hills Career Center. Right after graduating high school, Rogan was employed with Lang Masonry and was presently employed with Kokosing Construction. Rogan loved the benefits from his hard work, as in collecting the money! He was an outdoors person who had a knack with guns, and loved hunting, fishing, mud running in his Jeep, and spending time in the woods putting feed out for animals. He was a member of Laborers Local Union #423 out of Columbus and the Sons of the American Legion Post 371 in Wellston. Rogan is survived by his parents, Jeff and Mary Vickers; sister, Megan Vickers; grandparents, Wayne and Cindy Vickers; aunt and uncle, Kim and Alan Seitz; along with several great aunts, great uncles, cousins and friends, including special friends, Connor Bates, RJ Kemp and Jeff Rogan; and his furry friends, Scrappy and Cooper. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Wanda Scurlock and Mike Scurlock; and great-grandparents, Bob and Jean Seitz, Hugh and Margaret Scurlock, Charles and Pat Wyckoff, and Ruby Vickers. Rogan had a kind and loving heart and was always fun to be around. In Rogan’s own words, he would say “keep on keepin’ on”. Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 3rd, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Celebration of Life service will be Thursday, August 4th, at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Jadrnicek officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery. For those who wish, the family would appreciate contributions be given to a scholarship that will be given next year in Rogan’s memory. We really didn’t know Rogan very well but as neighbors we share a love for Jeeps and we always enjoyed watching Jeep traffic come and go. It reminded us of what it was like to live life like everyday was a good day, with fun and excitement involved and that always brought a smile to our faces. Our heart goes out to the Vickers family. I really didn't know Rogan like so many others only during football season during junior high and a little of high school. My grandson J J always talked and said good things about this young boy. Mary I am so sorry that you have to go through this, I don't have the words that could change anything, because I have never went through this and I pray that I never have to. But one thing God will be with you and your family during this time of grief. Put your faith in God, we will never know God's plan is for Rogan, but I am sure its a great plan. We will continue to pray for you for days to come.
