A memory of Roger goes back to our years at Brookdale Community College. A colleague and I wanted to make a funny, but academically rich video to promote Positive Psychology in class and at conferences. At the time, late 90s, early 2000s, Roger was rather burnt out from having to make videos he found unfulfilling. Our project lit him up and energized him. We all enjoyed doing the work very much. We bonded during the project and were mutually grateful for the opportunity to do good, mutually joyful work together. I think of Roger's generosity of spirit and easy camaraderie. Rest in peace and thank you, Roger.

When I think of Roger, I smile. He was kind and funny without knowing he was. I can still hear his voicemail when I use to leave messages for him at work. He was such a wonderful man. He is so missed by his Brookdale Family.

I think about Roger often--especially when I am on the beach and see surfers. Wish I knew how much pain he was in. Wish I could have done more to help. Praying for him, for his family, and for the others who mourn his passing.

I am so terribly saddened by the news of Roger's passing. My prayers are with his family at this difficult time. I don't feel I have to pray for his soul because none was more beautiful than his. I am certain that he is brightening the Heavens with his smile. Roger you will be missed. xo

The first time I saw Roger he was wearing a blue blazer and a tie!-he was interviewing for a job with us at BTV, so long ago. He was always moving: doing yoga, kayaking, biking. At one point when he was looking for an inexpensive vacation I said,"I hear Costa Rica is good for surfing and you can camp on the beach." The rest is history.
Roger was an artist with a big heart. He will be missed.

I've heard it said people come into our lives for a reason - to teach us something we must learn. Well, I don't know if all that's true, but I know my life is infinitely better, because I knew you. Roger, I am heartbroken. For your short life, for those who must go on without you, and because I will miss you so much. Rest in peace, my friend.

I've known Roger since the mid '80's when I first got into the video business. He was a customer, but felt more like a friend. I guess it was his nature to make others feel that way whenever they were around him. He could always make me laugh! I was in the area of Brookdale CC today and decided to stop in and say hello. Needless to say, I was shocked and saddened to hear the news of his passing. Rest in peace, bro. God now has a new staff videographer.

The world sparkles a little less without Roger around. Memories cannot assuage his absence, but his zest for life and the unique way he saw the world will continue to inspire. I am so fortunate to have had him as a colleague, mentor, and friend. What an amazing human being....

Shine on, Roger, shine on!

I'm so sad to hear of Roger's passing. I first met him in his student production group then worked with him in the TV Dept at Brookdale. He was a great mentor and touched many people's lives. His love of life and helping others, creativity and humor will be missed.

My deepest sympathy to Roger's family. May you find solace in the fact the he was an Angel on earth, by touching the lives of so many people. I will miss my "Zumba" buddy (Roger had no rhythm, but danced his heart out and had fun!) I will also treasure the advice that truly helped me enhance both my academic and professional careers and how to embody a positive outlook towards life's obstacles. Roger, I thank you. May you rest in sweet peace.

My condolences to Roger's family and everyone that knew him. I got the opportunity of working with Roger at Brookdale TV as an intern while getting my associates at Brookdale. He was a great teacher and a really great person to work with. We are all going to miss him. Brookdale will never be the same. Thanks for everything Roger.

Roger was a wonderful human being and a committed humanist. We both volunteered with the Best Day Foundation during the summer months. Best Day takes autistic kids surfing: Roger turned me on to this special Foundation. I will miss him dearly and the surf just won't be the same without him. Rest in peace my friend.

My deepest condolences to Roger's family and everyone who had the good fortune to know this great guy. My friendship with Roger goes back to the mid-1980s, when we attended Rutgers and were roommates in New Brunswick. Though he finished classes in 1986, and left N.B. shortly thereafter, our friendship remained constant. His remarkable photography and his often hilarious poetry--the latter a reflection of his infectious sense of humor--leave a legacy. But mostly I will remember taking long walks, or rides, with Roger and talking about everything. On one such walk, more than 20 years ago, after my father died unexpectedly, Roger propped me up and was so supportive. But that's the kind of guy Roger was. I was saddened to learn of his passing. I am grateful to have had his friendship and am better for the more than quarter century I knew him. I will always love you, Rog. RIP, my Brother.

Roger had a ready smile and a kind word whenever our paths crossed on Brookdale's campus. He was a responsive, professional colleague, and a genuinely nice guy. I'm grateful I knew him for a little while on this earth.

Peace be with you Roger. . . you will be missed.

Roger, I am shocked to learn that you are not among us anymore. Your support of our Knowledge is Power - Three Cups of Tea college project to benefit Greg Mortenson's and our school in Pakistan taught us what an extremely kind and caring personality you had on top of your talent as photographer and TV professional. I just used one of your photos today and cannot understand that I cannot just call you to say thanks. Deeply missed.

The campus just won't be the same without Roger's smile. My daughter and I loved catching lunches with him during the summer months, especially at Fins in Bradley Beach where Roger loved the surfer vibe. Sweet, sweet guy who cared about everyone--sure will miss him.

"Roger thought different. I'm going to miss that."

I wrote that on a condolence card my colleagues at Brookdale are sending to Roger's Mom. We worked together for all of those twenty some-odd years... so many words I've seen written by others remind me of time I've spent in the very same situations with him. Gonna miss you, guy.

I met Roger in my first Yoga class at Brookdale a few years ago. He was very expert and willingly helped the rest of us who were new and struggling. I will always remember his kindness and his cheery "Hello" whenever I ran into him on campus. May you rest in peace Roger; you will be missed.

Add my condolences to all those already given. I had the pleasure to work with Roger and his fineBTV crew this summer on a creative project for the International PositivePsychology Association 2nd World Congress in Philadelphia. It was a wonderful collaboration that I know he enjoyed as well. We all hoped to carry out similar projects in the future. Alas, that cannot happen any longer. I will miss him and cherish our project even more. RIP, Roger

Roger was someone very important in my college years. He was the co-adviser for my club, and he made so many things possible, he always had a positive outlook on life, and was the nicest person ever. I will miss him so much, but I know he is in a great place, watching over us, and rooting for everyone to be the best we can be. May he rest in peace, and he will be missed

Roger was someone I had an enormous respect for. He cared for students and staff alike. You could count on Roger in times of need. I am deeply saddened by his death,it is extremely difficult to accept. I will remember his support and many kind words always. I am grateful to be able to call him my friend. Thank you Heavenly Father for receiving him into your arms.

I can't believe that I won't see Roger going past my desk in the MAN basement, with his grin and big hello. I admire his accomplishments, both for Brookdale and for the children of Costa Rica who were helped by Roger's PuraVida project. All of us who collaborated on projects with Roger and BTV are stunned at this loss. All sympathy and prayers, Marianne Drake

I just found out today about Roger's passing. In my twenty years at Brookdale, I had many occasions to benefit from his talent and that of the great staff at BTV. Roger was a dedicated professional who worked tielessly to put the best "look" possible on Brookdale. Many were the times he and the staff made me, the college President, look better than ever. I am saddened; and,I grieve for him and all those who cared for a real quality person. Prayers from all of us in the Burnham family.
