To all -
Roger was my best friend in college. He stayed at my parent's home for 3 months (after college), before we went to a boys camps for inter-city children. We went from there to a 6 month tour of Europe back-packing all the way.
I also spent a week in Omaha with Edith and Roger.
My stories of Roger are endless. I don't even recognize the photo. But how many Roger Fouts were born in Onowa, Ia.,....1.
My buddy, my friend, and a real personal loss.
RIP my friend.

Thanks for everything Mr. Fouts. You've gotten me through my tuff times. You taught me so much. You made me laugh so much. You were able to get me out of my shell. I'm no longer that shy little girl anymore. I feel confident with myself and I'm no longer afraid to speak up. I'm always keeping up with those good grades. You told me to never let myself down and to always keep my grades good. It was an honor to be one of your student. We all love you and will never forget you. We all know you are in a better place and you're no longer suffering with pain ❣

I am devasted to hear about Rogers passing. He was more than my daughters teacher, he was a guaranteed smile and man I was honored to call my friend. I never got to say goodbye when he left the school. I am grateful for all the hugs he gave me, the show tunes we sang, laughs we had, and mostly for him being a part of my daughters life. We both agree he was the best teacher she has had. He brought music, theatrics, costumes and humor into his classroom and it encouraged the kids to learn. What a great man. ❤ Christie

I had Mr. Fouts as my third grade teacher. He was always so amazing and inspiring. He recommended me to my acting conservatory and is a lot of the reason I started sharing my singing voice with people. He will forever be in my heart and I can't express how painful it is to see him gone. It is horrible how many people have been taken to cancer and unfortunately this caring and loving man was taken by it. He was an amzing teacher and made everyone laugh and smile at one point. I speak as a 6th grader now, and I can still think of all the cheers we did and how well he engraved into our brains certain lessons with activities. He will forever be missed by his fellow teachers and former students, but I do know if anything he would not want this to make us miserable. He would want us to live on and remember the good memories with him. He will forever live on in our hearts.

Where to begin? Roger and I both started teaching at Newcastle Elementary School the same year 2001, and the same grade. We shared a door that was opened frequently
throughout the day; "What are we giving for homework?
What time is the assembly? Can you watch my class?"
The list can go on and on. Roger would ask for help on the computer, but offer help when lesson planning. He really had great ideas and was a wealth of knowledge. Roger was artistic and loved music and dance. He always jazzed up our Christmas performances by adding something special. Roger was the kind of person you'd never forget, because of his shining presence. He loved saying and doing things just to get a reaction. He told me he did this on purpose. What a character! This character was my friend, colleague, and confidant. I'll miss that door opening between rooms 16 and 17 and my dear friend on the other side.
Happy Roger

Roger and I tended to solve world problems by the copy machine or on the way to the office at recess. I loved his dry wit but also his philosophy on life - we laughed, we ranted and we connected during those five minute discussions. On one occasion Roger was enthusing about an invite to the members only restaurant above the Blue Bayou at Disneyland. I was so envious and told him I wanted to hear all about it when he returned. Sure enough Roger came looking for me as I was making copies the next week... He had taken pictures of all the courses as well as the decor - and had told the friend who invited him that he absolutely had to have pictures for his friend at school. Roger just had a way of including everyone in his enthusiasm for life... I can imagine you dancing in Heaven, Roger Love Debby Packer

The the Fouts family:
May the Almighty God be your source of strength at this time of grief. May he grant you peace as you look forward to the time when his promise at Hosea 13:14 will come true and all of you will be reunited in peace
