Roger Irwin Obituary
Roger was the beloved son of Jack and Sarepta Irwin (both deceased). He shared a remarkable 61-year marriage with his wife, Jean C. Van Kannel. Together, they built a loving family that includes their children: Dave (deceased) (Effie), Douglas (Jennifer), and Debbie Hliatzos (Taso).
Roger was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Kevin (deceased), Ryan, Kristen, Lauren, Josh, Kyle, Alex, and Nicholas. He was also a cherished brother-in-law to Jim and Susan Van Kannel and a dear uncle to Kevin (Carolyn), Greg (Kristie) and Kim Hollar (Aaron).
A dedicated educator, Roger taught mathematics for 36 years in the South Euclid-Lyndhurst School District, primarily at Brush High School. Beyond the classroom, he made a lasting impact as a coach for tennis, track, and basketball teams. His passion for teaching and coaching inspired countless students over the decades.
Roger found joy in an active lifestyle. He enjoyed fishing and playing softball, basketball, and tennis. Above all else, he treasured time spent with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished by his family forever.
In accordance with Roger's wishes, his body will be donated to Case Western Reserve University in lieu of a funeral. A private memorial will be held for the family. Honor Roger's memory by making a donation to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, PO Box 72700, Cleveland, Ohio, 44192.

Just made aware of Mr Irwin´s passing. So very sorry for your loss. I took Mr Irwin´s geometry class at Brush 50 years ago! He was an excellent instructor.

Jean and family.
So sad to hear about Roger. Many memories of coaching, playing softball, tennis lessons, and fishing with him. Always looked forward to getting together with the wonderful Irwin family and drinking his sun brewed ice tea. Great memories. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
