Roger Karlish Obituary

Roger D. Karlish, 62, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mr. Karlish was born Nov. 17, 1950 in Malden, Mo. He graduated from Malden High School, as well as Southeast Missouri State University. Mr. Karlish was a member of Midland Church and a math teacher at Poplar Bluff High School. He loved his whole church family and had a hug for anyone who wanted one. Mr. Karlish was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and enjoyed traveling, old movies, reading and music. He was a teacher occupationally, but a musician at heart. On Jan. 29, 1978, he married Gail Gillis in Poplar Bluff. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Jessie Karlish and Abbie Karlish, both of Poplar Bluff; four sisters, Norma Kitchen, of Dexter, Mo., Eleanor Sue Little, of Clarkton, Mo., and Joyce Nimmo and Deborah Karlish, both of Malden, Mo.; three brothers, Terry Karlish, and Gary Karlish (Joyce Ann), all of Malden, and Richard Karlish (Rosemary), of Tulsa, Okla.; his mother-in-law, Mary Frances Gillis, of Poplar Bluff; and a brother-in-law, Greg Gillis, of Swansboro, NC. His parents, Theodore and Linda Riddle Karlish, and brother, Robert Karlish preceded Mr. Karlish in death. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Midland Church with Rev. Paul White officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charity of your choice. Cotrell Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
