Roger Keenan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 10, 2009.
Roger Lee Keenan, age 54, a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, on Tuesday February 10, 2009. The angels were waiting at Heavens opened door. Roger fought a courageous battle with cancer. He was a lifetime resident of Canton and Louisville and was a 1974 graduate of East Canton High School. Roger was a Christian all of his life and attended the Church of the Master in Canton and East Canton Maplebrook Church of God. He was a standing member of the Ohio Country and Western Music Association, Canton Chapter. He worked for Rhineharts Cleaning Service and Serv-Pro of Canton, until becoming disabled from an accident from a fall on July 24, 2007. Roger loved sports, his favorites include the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Cavs. He loved to worship his Lord and always will be remembered as a kind person that gave himself to others such as volunteering his time with the Hunger Task Force of Canton and delivering groceries to the disabled. Roger also enjoyed taking his nephews, Rob, Jim and Joe out bowling, eating pizza and to the movies. He leaves behind to mourn for him, his mother and father, Jean and Jim Keenan of Louisville; sisters, Ladina Kennedy of Canton, April Keenan of Canton, Tammi Elmerick of Louisville and nephews, Jim and Joe Elmerick of Louisville, Robert Kennedy of Columbus and many other church, work and school friends. The family would like to thank Aultman Hospice for their kind and loving care, especially, Viola, Anita, Allan, Karen, Lisa and Pat. May God bless all of you. A big thank you to a special person, Fred, who helped with his care and made him laugh when he was sad. We would also like to thank Pastor Tyree and Pastor Mathewson for all of their visits and prayers in our home for Roger. Stark County Commissioners Todd Bosley and Tom Harmon presented Roger with an outstanding Citizen Award of which he was very proud. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with Pastor Tyree of Maplebrook East Canton Church of God and Pastor James Mathewson of Church of the Master officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be held Friday evening from 4-7p. m. in the funeral home. Dan Husskins will provide music with his quitar and harmonica. Dan visited the home and played music to cheer Roger up during his sad days.
