ROGER G. MARCELLIN
June 15, 1931 – February 21, 2023
Roger passed away peacefully on February 21, 2022 in Mission Viejo, California at the age of 91.
Born in Covina, California, Roger graduated from Montebello High School and Pasadena City College as valedictorian and from UCLA school of business summa cum laude, with a degree in accounting.
On July 1, 1953, Roger joined Price Waterhouse at the Los Angeles office and worked for several months before being called up for active duty with the navy. He spent six months in Athens, Georgia at Supply Corps School. He was then assigned to the USS Philippine Sea (CVA 47) which had been in the Korean campaign and was on its way to patrol the waters between Formosa (now Taiwan) and the Chinese mainland. He was then assigned to the USS Knudsen (APD 101) and was sent to the Bikini Atoll, Marshall Islands to assist with the first drop of the H bomb.
Roger returned to the Price Waterhouse Los Angeles office in 1957 and was admitted to the PW partnership in 1969, serving as the entertainment specialist. He was transferred to Century City in 1973 to head the Los Angeles satellite office. Highlights during this period included working with Walt Disney, Marlon Brando and working on the Emmy Awards, He was then transferred to Dallas in 1976 as partner in charge. During this period, the Dallas Price Waterhouse office moved from the ninth rank of the "Big 8" to one of the leading firms. Roger also served on the PW national policy board for eight years. He retired in 1991.
Roger remained active in retirement, serving on a number of boards including La Société de Francaise Los Angeles, where he was recognized for over four decades of service, with numerous terms as President and Treasurer. He continued to enjoy playing tennis until the age of 87.
A funeral mass will take place at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery at 2161 S. Fullerton Road, Rowland Heights, California at 11:00 a.m. on March 14, 2023.
Roger is survived by Marie Elizabeth "Bette", his wife of 66 years, whom he had known his entire life. (Their French families were close friends, and they were placed in the same crib as infants.) Other survivors include his son Richard, daughter-in-law Katya, daughter Colette, son-in-law Greg, and grandchildren Matthew, Rachel, Katherine, Roger, Michael and Richard.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers you make a donation to your favorite charity.

I also remember Roger well from PwC. He was much loved and respected by all the staff.

I remember Roger fondly; he was a great leader at PwC in Dallas. I'm happy for him that he lived to the age of 91.
