Roger D. McKeon

Penfield - On December 27, 2020 at age 98.. He was the husband of late, Elizabeth M (Cannavino) McKeon for 74 Years. Roger was born 5/31/1922 in Groton, NY to John & Laura (Walworth) McKeon and is preceded in death by two brothers. He is survived by his children, Sandra Dispenza, Marsha (Louie) Szi, Karen (Dean) Geraci and John (Pat) McKeon; grandchildren, Michael (Sue) Dispenza and Michelle (Chris) Bailey; great grandchildren, Austin Bailey and Jennifer Dispenza.

Roger was an avid gardener, hunter, fisherman and bird watcher and spent many hours in his workshop, crafting and carving wooden gifts for his family and friends. In his later years he took his love of fishing and began making fishing lures and jewelry. Roger is fondly remembered for his love of non-fiction books and was always seeking to fill his mind with knowledge and could often be found at his kitchen table reading.

Like his wife, Elizabeth, Roger's body was donated to the U of R Medical School. The family will be holding a private memorial at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to: Gennesse Conservation League, 1570 Old Penfield Road, Rochester, NY 14625"

The McKeon family lived across the street from me on Kimbark Rd. many years ago. I remember Mr. McKeon as an avid archer, with a target set up in his back yard, and that he made his own arrows! He, like all of his family, was kind and friendly, and a pleasure to know. I'm sure he will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace.

Roger was one of our neighbors. He would always take a walk past our house . My husband Orrie would meet him on the sidewalk to make sure he could cross the street okay to the cemetery. They would talk for awhile - he had a great sense of humor. He made earrings for me. Lovely! He told Orrie one day that when he passed away , he is going to college. U of R. So cute. We will miss him.

Roger was such a gift to our family. As our “backyard neighbor” for many years, we often visited out in his garden. We loved his amazing stories and sense of humor. My grandkids were lucky to eat his raspberries and dig up potatoes. We’ve missed him....May he Rest In Peace. Love, Mary &
