Roger was born June 4, 1966, in Carroll, Iowa, to the late Vernon Mueggenberg and Mary Meighan Mueggenberg. He was a graduate of Manilla (IA) High School. Roger attended ITT Technical in Omaha, Neb., to obtain his H.V.A.C., which led to his career as a mechanical engineer. He worked as regional director of skilled nursing facilities throughout the state of Florida. He had also worked as the director of plant operations at the University of Florida. Roger was currently employed at Downstream Casino. He was most proud of his work as the chief engineer at Downstream and the lasting relationships he made with the Downstream family. Roger loved all outdoor activities. He was very fond of fishing and camping. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, fast cars and NASCAR. He played football in high school and loved watching the Indianapolis Colts. He eventually became a Nebraska Cornhusker fan and even bowled on occasion with the Downstream team.
His main love in life was spending time with his family. He will truly be missed. Roger married Erika Bergman on April 11, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nev. She survives at the home.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Davisson.
Additional survivors include his children, Josh Coleman, of Washington, Nikki Bergman and Becky Tamayo, both of Omaha, Ryan and Erin Mueggenberg, both of Carl Junction; seven grandchildren; five brothers, Paul Mueggenberg and Karen, of Des Moines, Iowa, Allen Mueggenberg and Gena, of Quapaw, Okla., Michael Mueggenberg, of Carl Junction, Steve Mueggenberg, of Vail, Iowa, Tom Mueggenberg, of Carl Junction; three sisters, Sue Wendt and her husband, Jeff, of Denison, Iowa, Barb Danielson and her husband, Kirk, of Cabot, Ark., Shari Hostetter, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; father-in-law, Mores Bergman and his wife, Sandra, of Omaha; mother-in-law, Lynne Petratis, of Council Bluffs; nephew, Keith Whiting and Kelly, of Carterville; and several other extended family members, including his loved nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday at 6:30 p.m., at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Bob Simon will officiate. The family will receive friends following the services at the chapel. There will be a celebration of Roger's life on Saturday, from 3 to 10 p.m., at the Elk's Lodge in Galena, Kan., located on Route 66. Food and refreshments will be available and memories will be shared.
