Roger Ramsey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 17, 2025.
Roger Ramsey, 73, passed away on August 12, 2025, in Henderson, Nevada. Born on June 24, 1952, in Newport, Tennessee, Roger lived a life marked by dedication, love, and unwavering commitment to his family and career.

A proud graduate of the University of Tennessee, Roger earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1974. Just two years later, he began his professional journey in data processing as a floor operator with JC Penney's catalog division. This was the beginning of a remarkable 40-year career during which Roger designed, built, and provided equipment for data centers across the country. His work ethic and expertise earned him admiration from colleagues and customers alike. He was known not only for his technical skill but also for his integrity and generosity-qualities that left a lasting impression on all who worked with him.

Roger's devotion to his family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vicki Rigney Ramsey; sons Spencer Lee Ryan Ramsey and Nathanial Blake Ramsey; daughters-in-law Tiffany Hauck Ramsey and Alicia Cook Ramsey; grandchildren Lennie Harper Ramsey, Evelyn Rose Ramsey, and Kail Valline; sister Teresa Ramsey Busler and brother-in-law Eddie Busler; brother-in-law Lloyd Rigney; sister-in-law Debbie Hinnen Rigney; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Ramsey and Ida Belle Cureton Ramsey.

Outside of work and family life, Roger was a gifted athlete with a passion for fitness. He loved playing golf, running, lifting weights, and working out-activities that brought him both joy and discipline. A devoted sports fan, he cheered passionately for the Kansas City Chiefs in football, the Kansas Jayhawks in basketball, and the Tennessee Volunteers in college football. One of Roger's greatest joys was coaching his sons Spencer and Blake in football and baseball during their youth-moments that created cherished memories for them all.

Roger also found joy in quieter pursuits. He enjoyed reading and playing video games-especially alongside his wife-and embraced every opportunity to share laughter and companionship with those he loved most. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart. Though he expressed sorrow at not being able to watch them grow up firsthand, his influence will live on through their lives.

Those who knew Roger remember him as smart, successful, hardworking-and above all else-a good man whose generosity touched many lives. He provided abundantly for his family not just materially but emotionally: offering guidance when needed most and love without condition. As a mentor to many and a pillar of strength to those closest to him, Roger leaves behind a legacy defined by compassion and character.

"Family love is the quiet strength that holds us together through life's joys and challenges." This quote captures the essence of who Roger was-a devoted husband and loving father who always put family first.

His passing is a devastating loss to those who loved him deeply. He is greatly missed.

Rest in peace dear Roger.

Roger was a very dear friend who was a big part of our family. He and my brother Gary, or best friends. We share a lot of funny stories. He will certainly be missed.

I was saddened to hear of Rogers passing. He was always fun to be around when I was young. He had the coolest car. Lots of prayers for Vicki, Spencer, Blake and the entire family.

A beautiful remembrance that describes him so well. If you knew Roger, you had to love him. Myself and my family will also always remember his gift as a talented pianist. He played by ear and could raise the roof, up and down the keys, with any song you could throw at him. Hate we won´t hear him play again in this lifetime. It was always a joy. Our deepest sympathies to his beautiful and loving family.
