Roger A. Spicer, 72 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday morning, July 6, 2017.

Roger Spicer, son of Clifford and Minnie (Groth) Spicer, was born on March 20, 1945, in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up in Sioux Falls and received his education, graduating from Washington High School in 1963.

He married the love of his life Donna L. Wheeler on July 30, 1966.

After school, Roger enlisted with the Air National Guard. Upon his return, he worked at John Morrell and Co. until retiring after 46 years.

His life was filled with many family and friends that loved him. He cherished time spent in the great outdoors.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Donna Spicer, Sioux Falls, SD; son Chad Spicer and his wife Amber, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter Tonya Burd and her husband Brian Evans, Sioux Falls, SD; brothers Eugene Spicer, Pipestone, MN; Donald Spicer and his wife Jackie, Bloomington, MN; grandchildren CJ, Jason, Jamie, Abby, Zane, Katie; and many other relatives and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marilyn Callahan and Connie Rang; and a granddaughter Brooke.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Sioux Falls Humane Society or Dakota Wesleyan Men's Basketball.

Memorial visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, July 10, 2017, at the Miller Westside Chapel, 6200 West 41st Street. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at the Miller Westside Chapel.

Donna and family,

I just returned to Sioux Falls from California and was saddened by the news of Roger's passing.
I remember the many fun times we had in days gone by. His sense of humor was infectious and it was really enjoyable to be his friend. The memories are many and I trust they may help you through this difficult time. Roger will be greatly missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with
the Spicer family.

So deeply sorry Donna and Tonya and family for the loss of such a beautiful fun, funny, above all family man. Donna our hearts especially go out to you, as you lost the greatest love and partner of your life. Whats awesome is you two did just that! Made beautiful happen in your family!
