Roger VanDyken Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 7, 2019.
On August 3, 2019, Roger Van Dyken left his earthly home and was taken to the place in heaven that had been prepared for him through faith and trust in the Lord Jesus as his Savior. Roger was born on November 20, 1932 in the home of his parents, Henry and Christina (Moss) Van Dyken where he joined a brother, Peter and sister, Dorothy. He attended Manhattan Christian School and was blessed and privileged to live his entire life in the Gallatin Valley.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957 and returned home to spend the rest of his life doing what he loved most-farming and raising his family with his dearly loved wife, MaryAnn Leep, who he married on June 26, 1959. Their home and lives were blest with four wonderful sons and a beautiful daughter. Besides being a faithful husband and provider for his family, Roger was involved in his church as an elder and deacon, and also a member of the Manhattan Christian School Board.

In his retirement years he became an instructor for Crossroads Bible Institute writing letters and correcting lessons of prisoners. He made many visits to the state prison in Deer Lodge and was also a Bible Study Leadership member where he met many Christian brothers. He also enjoyed coffee on Tuesday mornings and bowling on Wednesday afternoon with friends. His last retirement project was making hundreds of wooden toy cars which were used by Toys for God's Kids in mission outreach. Several hundred were given to Samaritan Ministry for their Christmas Shoe Boxes. He was a good and faithful man.

Roger is survived by his wife of 60 years, MaryAnn; his son, Rick Van Dyken and his wife, Halane, and kids, Kyle Van Dyken and Suzie Michalski and their daughter, Kenna Christine, Jason and Heidi Kool and great grandsons, Bridger and Colton, Andy and Kindle Van Dyken and great grandson, Jackson; son, Jeff Van Dyken and his daughter and her husband, Amber and Justin Feddes; daughter, Sheryl Hasper and her husband, Kevin, and daughters, Emily Hasper and Anna and Jacob Goldman; son, Curt Van Dyken, his wife, Rhonda and their children, Brady, Conner, and Alexa; and son, Doug Van Dyken.

Also surviving are Laurence and Dorothy (sister) and their family and Annette Van Dyken (sister-in-law) and sons. In-laws dear to him Arla Leep, Bill and Fran Leep, Arlene Blake, Don and Lois Morren, Dorothy Kinna, Eldon and Sheri Leep, Linda Leep and a host of special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Peter and in laws, Andrew Leep, Alex and Claire Kimm, William Blake, Ed and Betty Folkersma, John Kinna, Jerry Leep, Carolyn and David Leep.

At 10 A.M. Thursday, August 8, his body will be laid to rest in the Hills Cemetery (South of Churchill) to await the resurrection and return of the Lord Jesus Christ. A Memorial service will follow at Bethel Christian Reformed Church at 11 A.M.

Gifts in his memory may be made to Hospice of Bozeman Health, 3810 Valley Commons Dr. Unit 1 Bozeman Mt, or Bozeman Prison Ministry Memorial Fund P.O. Box 6281 Bozeman Mt, 59771.
