Roland J. Castor

Roland J Castor, 78, of Goldmine Road, Gilsum, died Sunday morning at the Westwood Care and Rehabilitation Center in Keene following a period of failing health.

He was born in Keene, June 28, 1933, the son of Richard J. and Lena M. (Willette) Castor and has resided in this area all of his life.

Mr. Castor graduated from Keene High School, and was a veteran, having served in the US Army.

During his working years, he had been employed as a farmer, woodworker, carpenter, saw filer and small engine repairman.
In his earlier years, he had been employed at Wilbur Brothers Farm, Sprague & Carlton, G.W. Stone, Everette Lounder, Weaver Brothers Construction Co., Charter Oak Construction as well as Bartlett Tree Service.

His last employment was as the owner and proprietor of Castors Saw Shop where he worked for a number of years.

He was a member of the Gilsum American Legion Post

To his family and friends, he was known by the titles of Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Gravey Man.

Survivors include: his wife Joyce Anne (Read) Castor of Gilsum; four sons: David Castor of Gilsum, Richard Castor of Clarksville TN., Raymond Castor and his wife Kathy of Gilsum, and Gregory Castor and his wife Cheryl of Keene; two daughters: Rebecca Wilson and her husband Randall of Washington NH., and Susan Castor and her husband Wesley Digustino of Ashland ME., a brother Reginald Castor and his wife Nancy of Trenton FL., a sister Leona Lancey and her husband Ernest of Sarasota FL., nineteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Services for Mr. Castor will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 42 Forbush Lane, off of Route 12 South in Swanzey. Friday morning at 11 o'clock. Friends are invited. There are no public calling hours.

It has been requested that gifts be made in memory of Mr. Castor to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, P.O. Box 938, Keene, NH. 03431.
