Roland Erikson Obituary

Memorial services for Dr. Roland E. Erikson, 85, of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., formerly of Davenport, will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church, Fuquay-Varina. Committal services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Davenport Memorial Park Mausoleum. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport, is in charge of arrangments. Dr. Erikson died onWednesday, November 16, 2005, at Wake Medical Center, Cary, N.C.
Ronald Edward Erikson was born on October 31, 1920, in East Moline, Ill., the son of Edward and V. Evelyn (Erickson) Erikson. He married Betty Lou Taylor in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attended the University of Chicago where he received a degree in psychiatry. He practiced psychiatry for 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was an avid amateur radio operator and sang in the church choir for many years.
He was a member of the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, Iowa Medical Psychiatric Society, and the Scott County Medical Society.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Fuquay-Varina; sons, Rex Allen Erikson, of Holly Springs, N.C., Karl Thor Erikson, of Shakopee, Minn., Nils SiegFried Erikson, M.D., of Pensacola, Fla., Jon Otis Erikson, of Minneapolis, Minn.; daughter, Aandra Lois Erikson, of Minneapolis; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Davenport, Calvary Lutheran Church, Buffalo, Iowa, or Faith Lutheran Church, Eldridge, Iowa.

We were so sorry to learn of Roland's passing and want to express our deepest sympathy to you. Roland was such a fine man! We are just glad that we had the opportunity to know him and enjoyed his company on various occasions. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time of great sorrow.
