     SOUTH PORTLAND -- Roma Gideon Drouin, 81, of Ocean Street, died Saturday at
    Maine Medical Center.
     He was born March 11, 1926, in Westbrook, the son of Gideon and Blanche
    Drouin. Roma enlisted and served with the Navy in the Pacific Theater of Operation during World War II. He took pride in his 42 years with Maine Central Rail Road, retiring as a conductor in 1987. He especially enjoyed the Maine Central Mountain division run.
     Roma enjoyed sharing his talents with loved ones. His love for life and family are testamented with his family homes he built on Sebago Lake and Poland Spring. He generously lent his expertise when his daughters home on Cliff Island was built. He and his wife wintered in Melbourne, Fla., for many years. He showed his love for gardening with beautiful landscape and abundant vegetables.
     Roma was an accomplished golfer and enjoyed his membership at Poland Spring Country Club for 25 years and as a member of Melbourne Century Country Club in Melbourne, Fla.
     Roma is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Rita Margaret Peffer of South Portland; two daughters, Diane O'Reilly and her husband Robert of Cliff Island; Kathleen Kilgrow and her husband Jack of Draper, Utah; a son Gary Roma Drouin and his wife Marsha of Richmond, Mich.; a sister, Geno Belanger of Gorham; a brother, Rene Drouin and his wife Cecile of Windham; six grandchildren and five great- grandchildren all of whom were loved by and loved. Roma was predeceased by a sister, Rachael Denis and a brother, Richard Drouin.
     Services will be private Wednesday at the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Westbrook. Online condolences may be sent to www.ctcrawford.com.
