Ronald Trost God, Family and Country
Ronald Edward Trost, 81, resident of Oroville, California, passed peacefully March 20, 2015, with his wife Carol and daughter Rhonda by his side. Ron was born on 16 May 1933 in Cooperstown, North Dakota, the fourth of nine children raised by Edward and Elizabeth Trost of Hope, North Dakota. At a young age he began working on the family farm. It was there Ron learned the values of hard work, responsibility and discipline that would forge the rest of his life. A proud American, Ron volunteered his service to the United States Navy, from 1951 to 1955. He proudly served on the U.S.S. Agerholm during the Korean War. After 4 years of Honorable Service, he returned to his hometown where he courted and won the heart of Carol Eggert. Ron and Carol were married on 16 November 1957. During his time in the Navy, Ron made life-long bonds with John Dale and Bob Ledger who resided in Oroville, California. The friends enjoyed playing music together, Ron played the guitar and sang. In 1961 Ron and Carol packed everything they owned into a car and small trailer and joined their friends out West in Oroville. Ron accepted a position at Ed McConnell Ford in Gridley, California and after a few short years became the body shop manager. Not one to settle, Ron quickly learned the business side of the body shop and decided to venture out on his own. In 1980 he opened RT's Body Shop in Gridley. Ron owned and operated RT's for 20 very successful years. His reputation for excellence, honesty and PERFECTION was widely known through out Northern California. Ron took his hobby/passion and made it his living; we should all be so lucky. Everyone who knew Ron understands his love and dedication to his Family. Carol and Rhonda meant the world to Ron. He was also an active member of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church where he managed the church facilities and was a member of the Fellowship Club. Everyone loved Ron's quick wit and amazing ability to keep everyone laughing. We will never ever forget his unwavering love for playing and singing country music, driving red Ford trucks, Nascar and sprint car racing, having breakfast with the guys at the coffee shop, drinking a cold Brewskee with friends and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys!
