Ronald Billie, Sr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 20, 2025.
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Billie Sr. on May 17th, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and handyman extraordinaire whose love, wisdom, and witty sense of humor will be deeply missed. Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1946, he was the son of the late Peter and Anna (Hedish) Billie and the brother of the late Jean (Billie) Chladek. Ron graduated from Dieruff High School in 1964, where he met his high school sweetheart, Paulette (Reinert) Billie. Ron and Paulette shared a beautiful marriage that spanned 57 and a half years, marked by deep love, unwavering devotion, and a lifetime of cherished memories. Together, they raised three children-one son and two daughters-who were the pride and joy of their lives. Ron was employed by Sears Roebuck for over 40 years. He was a talented musician for over 60 years. Ron was best known for his skill on the bass guitar. His passion for music led him to perform with several bands over the decades, including The Shadows, Fuzzy Bunny, and Energy. For the past 30 years, he found happiness playing with the band Joyous, through which he made a lasting impact after retiring from the band in 2024. He was always on the go, with a love for astronomy and music, and an undeniable sweet tooth. Ron will be dearly missed by his wife, Paulette; son Ronald Jr. and his companion Ann Weaver; daughters Jennifer and Elizabeth; and many nieces and nephews. Ron was a proud grandfather to Alyssa and her fiancé Tyler, Zachary, Jeremiah, and Anna.

A Celebration of Ron's Life will be held on Monday evening July 14, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the American Club 300 Cherry Street in Coplay, PA 18037. All who knew and loved him are warmly invited to join in honoring his memory.

I knew him as a baby when his big sister, Jean, and I played together. What a fine individual he grew up to be, and how lovingly remembered he will be to his family and friends. Dave and I send our sincere condolences.

Condolences to Paulette and the Billie family. I had first met Ron back in 1972 with Fuzzy Bunny, and through the years kept in contact through bands Energy and Joyous. Goes without saying he was one of the most talented musicians in the Tri-state area. And probably beyond that. I used to tell him "You don't realize just how good you are, do you? No clue. You instantly make any band sound so much better." Plus, his background vocals always spot on, and tasteful. He was that "missing ingredient" that could elevate a good band into something great. Later in life, got to know how much even better of a family man he was. Think that is when I got to know more of the "family man" he was. Great individual that will be missed. He always had time to talk about music, past shows and remembrances, and always interested in how you were and other friends. Always had good things to say about other people.
Wonderful man. God bless you Ronnie.

Ronnie was beloved by all and will be truly missed but more importantly remembered as a gentle man of character who was loved by everyone. Dear Paulette and family,
Please accept my deepest condolences.
Ronnie was the finest bass player and falsetto vocalist I ever worked with. Our years together with Fuzzy Bunny created some of my best memories. His dry sense of humor, work ethic and his devotion to you and the kids were one of a kind.
He will sorely be missed, but never forgotten.

I´m so glad I got to know Ron these past years, being bestfriends with his granddaughter meant seeing him often. Was such a pure soul and very down to earth. Anytime I came over I´d hear him jamming on his bass, and I can verify it never sounded bad, always fantastic. Going to miss you Ron, keep jamming out on that bass!

I was blessed to play alongside of you as the drummer for Fuzzy Bunny all those years and what wonderful memories we created back then. Dorpy and I always considered you and Paulette more than just friends. When we moved from the Lehigh Valley I know we didn´t keep in touch all that much, but you were always in my thoughts whenever I filled in with any bands down in the shore area and I especially enjoyed coming up to Palmer Days to sit in with you in Joyous. As the song says, "heaven must have one hell of a band" and now they have a FANTASTIC bass player. Rest in peace my friend
