Ronald Bridge

BRIDGE, Ronald John – It is with great sadness that our family announces the death of Ronald John Bridge, on August 21, 2015 at the age of 91. Predeceased by his parents, Hilda and Clarence, and elder brother, Ted. Ron leaves behind his loved and loving wife of 68 years, Evelyn (Frayling). Proud father of Karen, Mark (Debbie), and Leslie (Tiana). Much loved grandfather of Gabrielle (Amanda), Marc-Andre, and Ariane Laurence (Jesse); Amanda Arthurs (Chris) and Devon Bridge; and, admiring great-grandfather of Jackson Arthurs. Ron also leaves his dear sister Phyllis Munro and brother Joe (Maureen) as well as several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will remember Ron with great fondness. Ron had a full life during which he pursued a myriad of interests. After his stint in the Navy during WW2, Ron returned to work for 32 years at Abitibi Pulp and Paper and eventually went to Sault College where he retired after 15 years as a welding instructor. Ron was also an executive with the Abitibi Credit Union, an avid hunter and fisher, a landlord, a prospector and geology enthusiast, a wine maker, and dog lover. He was ever ready to lend family and friends a helping hand. Dad's family meant everything to him. In retirement, Ron spent many happy years fulfilling his dream of building a log cabin in the woods, largely with materials from his land. To all his caregivers on Apple 3 at the F.J. Davey Home, we cannot possibly thank you enough for the love, affection, and humour you shared with Dad daily. You will always be in our hearts. Phil and Emily, Dad loved you very much. We are so happy you have become part of our family. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral home and Cremation Centre on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 between 5pm – 7pm with reception to follow from 7pm – 8pm. If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario, the Kidney Foundation of Canada, the Sault and District Humane Society, or charity of your choice.
