Ronald Clarke Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 9, 2025.
Fort Myers - Ronald Paul Clarke, 65, passed quietly and peacefully on May 16, 2025 from his journey with Alzheimer's. Born May 17, 1959, in Montpelier, Vermont, he left this earthly world serendipitously, just one day shy of his 66th birthday.

Ron grew up in South Burlington, Vermont. He enjoyed playing baseball, hunting, fishing, gardening and listening to 80's pop rock. He always had man's best friend, a loyal dog, by his side and kept busy with one of many projects or hobbies - Jack of all trades, master of none. Ron was best known for his steadfast integrity, incredible sense of humor, quick wit and willingness to lend a hand whether a friend needed their driveway shoveled or a hitchhiking stranger needed a ride.

Ron studied at New Hampshire Tech where he majored in Electrical Engineering. He worked as an engineer at Digital and then IBM for several years. Later, he earned his degree in Nursing at Norwich University and worked as an RN at the UVM Medical Center for 8 years. Ron's calm, gentle and capable nature put others at ease and served him well in his nursing career. His positive outlook on life was contagious to those around him.

Ron is survived by his loving wife and life partner of 25 years, Tamara (Ferganskaya) Clarke, daughters Tamara Freeland (Corey) and Trish DeWald (Doug), brother Robert Clarke II and family, and sister Mary Cauchon and family. He leaves behind many friends and extended family members who loved and admired him along with his most recent beloved pup, Apollo, who was by his side until the very end. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Madelaine (Benoit) Clarke.

The world feels quieter without him, but those who knew him will forever hear his laughter in the corners of their lives. Ron lives on in the hearts and minds of those who cherished him immeasurably.

A sincere thanks to Loving Heart Adult Day Care and Hope Hospice of Fort Myers, FL for the care and support he received. In lieu of flowers, please make a tribute donation to the Alzheimer's Association: www.alz.org/vermont.

To celebrate Ron's remarkable spirit, a funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 11:00a followed by a luncheon in the parish hall at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in South Burlington.
