Ronald Cottrell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 20, 2011.
Ronald Lee Cottrell, 56, passed away January 19, 2011 at Halifax Medical Center. He was born on October 5, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio son of Clara J Cottrell and the late Donald Cottrell. In 1969 he moved to Florida and graduated from Mainland High School class of 1972. Ron owned and operated Ron's Driveline Parts & Repair in addition to Salty Charters. He had his 100 ton Captains license and loved nothing more that to take someone fishing and watch them catch fish. Besides fishing he enjoyed hunting, car racing, NASCAR and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Whispering Pines Hunting Club. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 35 years, Debi; his mother Clara J. Cottrell; children Rochelle and Ronnie; grandchildren; Taylor, Ronnie, Brandon and Alex; sister, Donna McMillen; mother and father in law Nancy and Louis Carr; and his loyal constant companion Sheeba. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held, 1 p.m. Saturday February 5, 2011 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, Fl. They say memories are golden,
Well maybe that it true,
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried,
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still,
In my heart you hold a place,
No one could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway,
And memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to Heaven,
And bring you home again.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

I love you Ron and always will,
Debi

We just recently learned of Ron's passing! He was a wonderful and generous man, that was so fun to hang out and fish with!He was the first to show us the best fishing spots in Bimini, and took the brunt of the 8ft waves...while we followed behind, heading to Lubber Cay!He will be greatly missed by all that knew him!! Dad -

God looked around his garden and found an empty place, he then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful because he always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering and he knew that you were in pain. He knew that you would never get well here on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were harder to climb so he closed your weary eyelids and whispered, 'Peace be Thine'

It broke our hearts dearly to lose you but you didn't go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home.

There is not a day or a minute that goes by that I am not thinking of you. Even though you may be gone, you will never be forgotten. I love you with all of my heart and will see you in heaven when my time has come.

With all my love!
~Rochelle~

Debbie,Rochelle & Ronnie,
So sorry to hear of Ron's passing. Ron had such a large presence it is hard to think of him gone. I have many memories of he and Frank hanging out and having good times together. Keep close to God and he will be there to comfort you.
In Sympathy,
Carol Adams(Frank's Embrey's ex wife)
