DALPHY, Ronald A. 1932 - 2004 On March 10, of cancer, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Ronald was predeceased by his beloved wife of 41 years, Yvonne C. Dalphy (MacKinnon) and by his father, Lawrence W. Dalphy and his mother Charlotte E. Dalphy, both of Longwood, Florida. Loving father of Denise Janigan (Michael) of Ottawa, Karen Dorsch (Bryan) of Kitchener and Ron K. Dalphy (Trina Lavallee) of Ottawa and loving Poppy of Shawn and Jacqueline Dorsch and Jack and Emeline Janigan. Survived by his brother, Lawrence (Carolyn) of Longwood, Fla. and his brother Earl (Noreen, deceased) of Ottawa. Ron was a member of Knights of Columbus, Council 12249; member of the RCAF Association and member of Canadian Aviation Historical Society. He was a retired 25 year employee of Sears Canada. Ron worked at the Hull, Que., Carlingwood, St. Laurent, Walkley Road and Barrie, Ont. stores. Ron was blessed by a second marriage to Patricia J. (Hodgins) Dalphy, bringing into his life John Hodgins (Montreal) and Susan Hartwick (David), of Braeside, Ont. He was loved "Poppy Ron" to Kaitlynd and Melissa Hartwick. Ron enlisted in the RCAF in 1951 and was awarded his "Radio Officer Wing" at RCAF Station, Clinton in 1952. He served on 405 (MR) Squadron at Greenwood, NS until 1954 when he was transferred to Winnipeg Training Command. While stationed at Winnipeg in 1955 Ron was reclassified and received his "Air/Obs/Rad/Nav wings". He was transferred with Training Command to Trenton for duty with 102 Command, Search and Rescue Unit. Upon his release in Trenton in 1959 he was transferred to RCAF Primary Reserve. While a member of the RCAF Reserve Ron was Commanding Officer of 51 Sqn Royal Canadian Air Cadets and then Commanding Officer of #6 Wing Royal Canadian Air Cadets. He retired with the rank of Major with the Canadian Forces Decoration. Ron was a Past President of Ottawa Optimist Club. Ron really enjoyed to travel and was fortunate to cruise around the world in 2002. During his lifetime he was able to visit more than 70 countries. Mass of Christian Burial was held at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, Kanata on Friday, March 12. In lieu of flowers, In Memoriam donations may be made to Palliative Care Outreach Program or to Saint Elizabeth Health Care.
