Ronald Duarte Obituary
Memorial services for Ronald Julius Duarte, 51, of Gilmer, will be in Sacramento, Calif. at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by East Texas Funeral Home. Mr. Duarte died December 17, 2007.
Born January 30, 1956, he was raised in Alameda, Calif., and was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend and known for his love of football. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Duarte.

Ron and I were best friends throughout our childhood in Alameda. When my parents went to the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, the Duarte's put me up for 2 weeks. Although Ron and I drifted apart during our time at Encinal High School, I always considered him my friend. I regret he didn't have the chance to live a long and happy life.
