Ronald Gall Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 18 to Jan. 20, 2011.
ZANESVILLE: Ronald Joseph Gall of Zanesville, OH died January 16 after a sudden illness. Born December 16, 1944 in New Brunswick NJ, he was the only son of Joseph and Genevieve Gall, who predeceased him.

Ron is survived by his wife, Linda Gall; and sons, Joshua Gall of Columbus and Noah Gall (Amber Yoder) of Brooklyn NY.

Ron earned a B.A. in Musicology at Rutgers University and spent his life in the music industry. He performed as a club date and jazz musician in NYC and elsewhere. Ron played tuba in the house band of the original Your Father's Mustache, a NYC banjo/jazz nightclub, where he also served as booking agent. A versatile musician who played electric bass guitar, Ron performed at the Jackie Gleason Club in Miami, and in the opening act of The Ed Sullivan Show. After his retirement from professional music performance, Ron still occasionally played in backup bands for 50's and duop revival concerts. He and his sons formed the trio, Unabridged, which performed at select private functions in Ohio. Other musicians say, "When you played with Ron, you knew you were in the presence of a powerful musician."

Ron's education and versatility as a musician led to a secondary career as a manufacturers' sales representative in the musical instrument industry. He was an executive at Latin Percussion in New Jersey, and in Puerto Rico with Coqui Sound. For more than 20 years, he was the owner and CEO of Buckeye Marketing, an independent firm.

Ron's love of music was surpassed only by his love for his family. His commitment to caring for his mother during her long years of illness is legendary. He was devoted to his sons and to his wife Linda. As a fellow artist, he respected her professionally. He was her partner in life for 38 years, but his friendship and love will support her forever.

Ron's dry sense of humor, subtle but pointed wit, and selfless generosity endeared him to his friends and family. He was a tender and honest man in every aspect of his life.

Ron was a well respected member of the music instrument sales industry. He called upon my store for years as a sales rep and always had a twinkle in his eye. Ron was one of those men who instantly became your friend the very first day you met him. I will not forget Ron and the admirable way that he lived his life.

Linda, Josh , and Noah. I am deeply saddend for your loss. . You have lost such a tremendous husband, father and son. I remember Ron coming to the nursing home daily and visiting his mother. She would tell me often , how proud he was of his family. He loved you so. Ron made sure the staff knew how affectionalte he felt toward his mother and that he appreciated the fact we took such good care of her. I'm sure it made a difference to him. Even though I haven't seen Ron in more than a year, I will never forget him, Genevieve or you.

The angels have a tuba and a clarinet/saxophone added to the jazz bank. I remember how they got together and jammed whenever they were together. The boys found the instruments and off the concert started. It was such a joy for everyone. Play one for the family, w/love K

It seems so unbelievable that he is gone. He was so full of life and fun. I will remember fondly the many fun visits especially when he and dad joked and played together. All my love to Linda and Josh and Noah.
