Ronald Hagenson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 4 to May 6, 2012.
Hagenson, Ronald Thomas age 76, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2012 surrounded by the love of his family. He was a man overflowing with humor, wisdom and kindness. Those who had the privilege of knowing him were blessed by the warmth of his friendship. He shared his greatest gifts of boundless love and guidance every day with his family. Ron was born April 26, 1936 in Minneapolis. He graduated from Central High School (1954) and Augsburg College (1963) after serving in the United States Army from 1956-58. He married Barbara Ginn in 1962. Ron was an early employee at Medtronic and played an integral role in the company's growth. In 1967, he was selected to open Medtronic's first international office, and relocated with his wife and young family to the Netherlands. Ron remained a member of the executive staff until his retirement after serving the company for 32 years. His work brought him great joy and many friends around the globe. A world traveler, Ron's true paradise was Hawaii. He and Barbara spent time each year escaping Minnesota's winters and embracing the "hang loose" nature of the islands. He was preceded in death by parents Rudolph and Thelma (Field) Hagenson and sister Shirley Kivi and is survived by his wife Barbara and children Patty (Greg) Bloom of Plymouth; Nancy (John) O'Brien of Plymouth and Michael (Anika) Hagenson of Edina. He is also survived by eight grandchildren who were the center of his universe: Jordan, Kaitlin, Landon, Danny, Shea, Anja, Joey and Kjell. He will be deeply missed but his spirit and devotion to family will live on for generations in the hearts of his children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 8 at 2:30 at Messiah United Methodist Church, 17805 County Road 6, Plymouth, MN, with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service. www.Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996

Ron Hagenson was a wonderful "boss" at Medtronic, and he and Earl Bakken were such good partners in helping the company achieve it's mission of "Alleviating Pain, Restoring Health, and Extending Life" for so many patients around the world. I had the privilege of working with Ron for 8 years and Earl for 20 years. Their legacies are two in over a million. I really miss both of them dearly. Karen Larson

I didn't know Mr. Hagenson but I have the privilege of knowing his daughter Nancy. If he was anything like her, Ron was man of warmth, character and integrity. It was abundantly clear he was deeply loved by his family and friends. My sincere sympathies.

I had the fortunate opportunity to get to know Ron during the last couple of months. During that time he became a real inspiration to me. One thing that really stood out was the deep love and devotion he showed for his family and their love and devotion for him. This world would be a much better place if there were more people like Ron and more families like the Hagensons to fill it. I really wish I'd had the chance to meet and get to know him even earlier. My condolences to his entire family. I will miss spending time with him. God Bless.

Dear Family Hagenson,
We are very sad to hear of Ron's passing. Such a special person lost so early.
Ron made a big impact of my Medtronic career and helped Medtronic of Canada meet it's Customer goals from the very beginning.
I'm sorry that I will not be able to join you on Tuesday for Ron's service.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ron's extended family at this time of loss.
Kindest Regards,
