Just wanted to mention I was a classmate of Ron Kohles in the late 60s/ early 70s in California. He was a basketball star, having several games of scoring more than 20 points. He was a very nice young man; very modest. I am extremely sorry to learn of his passing.

My name is Stephen. I was unarguably Rons best friend from 8th grade through Crestmoor ,and we even obtained an apartment together in San Mateo after highschool for a year or so. So approximently 1969-1974. We played football and baseball together those years in school, went on most dates together, sometimes to drive ins that dont exist anymore. We even were given a 1956 Belair together from a friend of his family whose husband played for the 49ers. We used to sometimes do such simplistic things as go to his house at lunches and make blts. His mother and father were great people and a little older, and his dad I believe had had a stroke, so was a little slow, but he was funny. He had to older brothers that got us into mischief, but were awesome. As I'm getting older, 64 now,I obviously as most of us do, think about our younger years, did we make good decisions, should I have married that one, could I have played professional sports, what happened to my friends? I've had several lifetimes of experiences since I knew Ron, traveled all over the world, married twice, 2 beautiful daughters, 5 grandchildren, and was able to retire at 52, but keep going back to work because I enjoy people so much. I wish I would have known Ron passed. I wish he hadn't, I wish I knew his wife and kids, and could tell him about mine. I played softball till 50, as Ron it sounds like. I'd like to reminisce about how good we used to be. I feel bad I didn't keep in touch, but I had the feeling he would always go back to Iowa. Ron liked an uncomplicated life, didnt want to live in the fast paced social atmosphere in San Fransisco at the time. Ron was a great guy, and I miss him, and will think about him for the rest of my life.sb
