Ronald Dewitt Lesley, 80, passed away Monday November 21, 2022 at his home in Shelby. Born in Greeneville, SC on April 25, 1942, he was the son of the late William Dewitt Lesley and Thelma Elizabeth Peek Lesley. In addition to his parents Ron is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Evelyn Lesley. Rev. Lesley was an active minister for upwards of 30 years, including 18 years serving the congregation of Morning Star Baptist Church. He was known to work well with his hands, creating new ideas and memories through painting, carving and pottery.
Ron is survived by his daughter Susan Wood and husband Scott of Shelby, a son Brian Lesley and wife Melinda of Polkville, four grandchildren, Seth (Christina) Lesley, Casey (Chris) Elliott, Elizabeth Wood and Emily Wood, as well as, two great grandchildren, Hank and Jolene Elliott.
A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Saturday November 26, 2022 at Morning Star Baptist Church of Shelby, with Rev. Keith Linzy and Rev. David Floyd officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Morning Star Baptist Church 832 South Post Rd Shelby, NC 28152.

He was my “other daddy”. He made me laugh, he encouraged me, he taught me so many things. A very special man who touched the lives of many and led them to the Lord. He will be missed, however I know he’s rejoicing and praising Jesus in Heaven with grandma, my parents and all those gone before him. Until we meet again.
