He married Jackie Lahr on October 31, 1971, at the Methodist Church in Dunlap, and they made their home in Dow City.
He was a caring man who was always ready to help other people. He enjoyed socializing with his family and friends, and especially joking with them. He loved to tease his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed playing cards with friends in Dow City. Favorite pastimes included fishing and hunting. Other activities he enjoyed were vegetable gardening, cooking, and creative artwork, including artistic drawing.

Survivors include two brothers: Jim and Richie; two sisters: Judy and her husband Ken; and Jan and her husband Jerry; and a brother-in-law, Richard; other relatives and friends.

I was so saddened to hear of Ronnie's passing. I treasured his friendship and enjoyed spending time with him. He was always such a clown, always making people laugh. I'm just sorry I hadn't stayed in touch with him for the past few months. Every time I'd drive thru Dow City I'd always think "I gotta stop one of these times to see Ronnie Butt". He will certainlly be missed by many friends and family. My heart goes out to his family. -- Mary Freerking
