Ronald Snidow Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 31, 2009.
SNIDOW, Ronald Wayne Ron was born on December 30, 1941 to Ralph and Dorothy Snidow in Newport News, Virginia. He left us on May 18, 2009 while on a cruise in the Mediterranean due to complications of Lou Gehrig's disease. He attended grade school in Aurora, Colorado and high school in San Rafael, California, where he played basketball, football, and won the state high school championship in discus. Ron attended the University of Oregon, (BS 1963, MS 1966), where he excelled at football. There he met and married Marcia Ann Williams. Ron went on to play ten years in the NFL, five years with the Washington Redskins and five years with the Cleveland Browns. When he retired from football, Ron and Marcia and their two sons, Todd and Jim, moved to Irvine where Ron went to work in commercial and industrial real estate. Ron enjoyed family camping trips, fishing with good friends, chatting with his chums at University Athletic Club, and traveling the world. He was a kind and very gentle gentleman and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Ron is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marcia, sister Carolyn, of Monterey, sister-in-law Laura Williams of Laguna Woods, sons: Jim of Irvine, Todd (Robin) of Denver, and their children Annabel, Tanner, and Oliver and Ron's faithful dachshund, Siegfried. A memorial service will take place at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Irvine on June 15th at 10:00 a.m. Donations in his name can be made to the ALS division of the Muscular Dystrophy Association or to the University of Oregon.

I was Ron´s teammate in 1972 in Cleveland. He was an excellent football player. There was no finer gentleman than Ron.

My big brother, Ron, will always be remembered by me by the great big bear hugs he gave not only me but everyone he met. His smiley laughing eyes and wonderful gusto for living laughter brought such heart felt feelings to me to be remembered always. He was the most honest, sincere and gentle giant of a man I have ever met and always gave you an ear when you needed one. Thanks for listening, I love you brother! P.S. Cheers and here's your spoon of peanut butter - save one for me.
