Ronald Watkins Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 15, 2024.
On January 27, 2024, Ronald Guy Watkins continued his walk with Jesus into heaven peacefully with his family surrounding him. Ron was born in Great Falls, Montana, on August 20, 1952, the third child of John Watkins and Cora (Seekins) Watkins. The Watkins family moved to Portland, Oregon, in March of 1959.

Ron graduated from Jackson High School in 1971 and entered the Navy that year. In 1973, he met Janet Polzel at First Christian Church, and were married on June 30, 1973, at the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden in Portland.

Ron was known to have a creative eye as a printing pressman, which also translated into his photography. He loved to take photos of landscapes and his grandkids, earning his nickname, Papa Razzi or Papa Roni. He also had a beautiful ministry of the prophetic, whereby he traveled to places such as Switzerland, Scotland, Israel, and more, sharing his gift of encouraging the church.

His family, friends, and church community will miss Ron deeply. He is survived by his wife, Janet; daughters Renata Hartsook, Marisa Swenson, and Jessica Anders; his three sons-in-law, five grandchildren, and five granddogs. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dean Watkins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 24, from 2-4pm at Victory Church, 811 Center Street, Oregon City, OR 97045

We have been encouraged and blessed through our brother-in-the-Lord Ron and his wife Jan over the years. We are thankful for the times we spent in their home meetings from time-to-time over the years. ~Ron & Karen Rohman
