NORTH ANDOVER — Rosamond Frye Smith, 90, of North Andover, died on Friday, Jan. 1, 2010 at Edgewood Retirement Community.
She was the beloved wife of the late M. Ritchie Smith. Born in Wollaston, on May 8, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John Howard Frye and Anne Tweeddale Frye.
She was predeceased by her three siblings, Joan Frye Harriman, Augustus Tweeddale Frye, and John Howard Frye, Jr. Rosamond grew up in Westfield, N.J, graduated from Westfield High School, and lived there until 2001 when she moved to North Andover. Rosamond lived her life with grace and generosity and always addressed life with a positive attitude. She was an avid birder with a Life List of over 500 sightings worldwide.
She had a passionate interest in genealogy and traced family roots back to the 1400s in England. She and her husband travelled the world extensively as part of his business endeavors with Exxon Corp. Rosamond and her family have spent summer vacations for several generations at Silver Bay Association, a YMCA Christian Conference Center at Silver Bay, N.Y., where her ashes will be laid.
She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Sheffield of Port Townsend, Wash., and Alison Seavey of Topsfield; her four grandchildren, Alison Sheffield, David Seavey, Greg Seavey, and Sean Ferguson; and her sister-in-law, Claire Frye.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. at Edgewood Retirement Community, 575 Osgood St., North Andover.
