I knew Rose way back when I was a student at Handy High School. Rose was the prettiest and nicest worker there.
I worked in the school cafeteria all four years of high school, 1954 - 1958, and I never saw her angry or heard her talk badly about anyone. She was a great person to know and a great person to work with. I'm sure you all will miss her greatly.

Ever person has a story... as a freshman at Handy, Rose was the head of the cafeteria. As such, my dad got me a job working for Rose as the "pots and pans man!" Thus I got lunch in return for cleaning the pots and pans. As I said, as a freshman I was happy to clean the crust off those old time pots. Yes, teflon was 30 years away so clean up was more elbow than grease. When I returned my sophomore yr... I asked for a promotion, anything but Ps & Ps, Rose told me I was too valuable to waste my talents in the dish and tray room. For four years I tried in vein to become a cool kitchen kid. Every yr., the same response was offered. So for 180 days a year I did Pots and Pans. And to this day, I must say she was the most fun, best employer I ever had. Sometime the worst jobs have the best bosses. She will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Rose's passing. She is a person I could never forget from when she ran the cafeteria at T. L. Handy High School where Richard and I were involved in plays, then as a colleague in the school system and then in parent teacher conferences when Megan was my student at Washington Elementary. She was one of the nicest people I have ever known. I found her inspiring!
