Rose Franco Solis
1953 - 2022
Rose Franco Solis, affectionately known as "The Queen of Yountville", died on February 3, 2022. She was 68 years old. Rose was born, lived, and died in the place she loved best, the beautiful Napa Valley. As she bartended at the family business, Pancha's of Yountville, Rose made friends near and far. Her smile would light up the bar!
Rose was loved and respected. If you needed something, you just had to reach out. She volunteered with the Pathway House at the Yountville Veterans' Home. She held an annual New Year's party at Pancha's so our Yountville veterans would have a place to celebrate. Wheelchair bound veterans could often been seen heading down Washington Street to visit Rose at the bar. She was willing and able to help many organizations with their fundraising. Rose was a member of Native Daughter's and she helped with yard duty at Yountville Elementary School.
Rose loved playing pool and took top woman shooter several times in the Napa Valley Pool League. She enjoyed bocce ball and her team won first place three years in a row. Rose was always making people laugh.
Nothing was more important to Rose than her family. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Frances and Ruben Solis. By five sisters, Adelia Torres, Mary Rodriguez, Rita Solis and two younger sisters that died at birth. Also preceded in death by her brothers, Ross Solis and David Martinez.
Rose is survived by her beloved daughter Rozzana, and grandson Lucaz Solis (the love of her life). Also survived by her sister Jenny, and brothers Ruben Solis (Ventura), Rolando Solis (Patti), and René Solis (Janet). Rose had many nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, and cousins. "The world is a little less sweet, and a little less hardcore. Rest easy Mom".
A celebration of Rose's life is planned in Yountville on Sunday March 27th. Details will be available here: https://www.facebook.com/rose.solis.520

Rose was an important part of the story regarding my cancer, and she is mentioned with gratitude in the book "The Commidity of Time" written by my daughter Lizann Grupalo.

Rose was a fun person. Remember her well when I lived in Yountville for 10 years. Loved going to Pancha's. Rose was a great Host and bartender. Will be missed.

To all the Solis family, I am so sorry about Rose! I have so many memories of great times with her that I cannot even begin to count them all! I pray for comfort for you all. A bright light has definitely been extinguished on this earth; I guess God needed extra light above! May all our memories of Rosie provide ease of heartache during this time. Hugs, Nick and Janelle Brown
