Rose Sparlin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 15, 2025.
Born January 24th 1954 to John Henry Pechal and Mary Ellen Ryan-Pechal in Houston, Texas. She was one of four children.

(Rosie) 71, Lived her life with no fear of anything or anyone, choosing the roads less traveled. She had humor, true grit and a resilience that is rare to find in most people.

A talented artist of her own making, she was able to create anything from a stunning dress to an epic poem. A woman who believed that no book should be off limits, learning should never stop, nor that free speech should ever be infringed upon. Rose was always able to make the most out of absolutely nothing.

Surrounding herself and loved ones with all her many creations. She loved her animals and spending countless hours outdoors, either working or watching her favorite hummingbirds. She was able to grow gardens and weave magic with stories that sparked imagination and creativity in others. She was baptized and loved reading her bible and sharing all she knew and has left us all with many memories. A steel magnolia in her own right. Her absence is felt by everyone who knew her.

On February 27th 2025, she decided to make her last journey where the road goes ever on.

She is missed by her family with whom she shared all her thoughts and theories of everything with while looking at the stars.

And forever missed by her devoted and loving husband who stayed by her side to the very end.

Preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Pechal and Her beloved brothers, Thomas and Warren Pechal.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Richard Sparlin.

Three children: James Gaustad, Heidi Gaustad and Whisper O'Dell.

Six grandchildren: Connor, Allison, Briar, Heston, Novalie and Charlie.

As per her wishes, The family would like to have a celebration of life at home.

Her ashes are to be spread on the waves offshore of Galveston, Texas.

"You know that place between sleep and awake, that place where you still remember dreaming? That's where I'll always love you. That's where I'll be waiting." - J.M Barrie

Rose was one of a kind, a mother to me when I had no one. I´ll forever be grateful for her and her family. I´ll pay you a visit when you come back home to Galveston for your final journey, Mama Rose.

Our last good Christmas before you started getting worse mama. I find myself missing you most at the times I didn't think I would. It's not things like certain songs or books that really get me, it's when I want to share something with you that I know would have amused you or when I find myself having questions about plants and trees now that I have to worry about these kind of things.
I don't really have anyone else that cared about seeing or hearing about my rocks and sun/moon photos like you did, or what cool lil stream I may have found this time..or even anyone who asks to see my artwork or what I may have made recently like you did. It's not the same without you here. It's really not.
