Rosette Thompson Payne

Rosette (Shorty) Thompson Payne, 79, of Attalla, Alabama passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 4th.

Shorty was born on December 12, 1943. She was born and raised in Attalla, Alabama. She loved serving the Lord and was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church Attalla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Gladys Thompson; daughter, Renae Casey; brothers, Jimmie (Junior) Thompson, Willie (Catfish) Thompson and Benny Thompson; sisters, Doris Whitten, Betty (Sissy) Blanks, her twin sister, Paulette (Fatty) Bowen, and Peggy Davis; and her nephews, Jeffrey Blanks and James Thompson.

She is survived by her children, Dennis (Mary) Payne and John (Joanna) Payne; grandchildren, Daniel (Anna), Dalton, David, Deborah, Darrin, JJ and Julia; great grandchildren, Taylor, Layla and Kaylynn; sister, Shawnee (Danny) Rubrigi; brother, William (Diane) Samples; nieces and nephews Tammy Smith, John Thompson, Darnell Bender, Terry Thompson, Eddie Thompson, Peggy Whitten, Sherry Robbins, Wayne Hopkins, Michelle Caridad, Jimmy (Brim) Thompson, Amy Campbell, Gladys Kellett and Theresa Hill, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to Hope Hospice and Gadsden Rehab therapists for their care and encouragement, and to Sandy Vasser for her unwavering friendship.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 11th at 3:00 PM at Bible Baptist Church Attalla. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 2:00 PM until the start of the service.
