JACKSON, Rosie Marie
Born on November 10, 1928, in Repton, Alabama. She passed away March 16, 2014, in Sacramento, California after living with dementia for 14+ years. Slowly she lost her memory and the ability to care for herself; but she still had the ability to let us know she was there with a smile and a few choose words. She was an educator, mentor, and a very active part of the Del Paso Heights School District and her church. She was instrumental in the education of generations of students throughout her 40+ years of teaching. She had an incredible work ethic, often going to bed late & then rising early to prepare a lesson plan, minutes from a school or usher board meeting - or to make one more extremely late or early phone call.
She recieved her Bacholor's degree from Alabama A&M, and recieved her Master's of Education from San Francisco State University.
A loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin and a caring, friend to many. She is survived by her four children: Robert Jackson, Jr., Andretta Jackson, Angela Jackson, and Jacqueline Hunter; son-in-law Rick Hunter; three grandchildren: Marques Hunter, Morgan Hunter, & Myles Hunter. She is also survived by last living sister, Fannie Ruth Felts along with numerous loving nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. She is proceeded in death by her parents, four brothers & seven sisters.
Visitation will be held March 28, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacra- mento, CA. Funeral services will be held March 29, 2014, 10:00 am, at Faith Fellowship Community Church at 5937 Watt Avenue, North Highlands, CA.

Mrs. Jackson was my kinder teacher back in 1993? I remember her being on me and really taking the time out to incorporate disciplined studies at even such a young age. I loved being in her class because, we got to have popcorn often. I wish that I could have reunited with her and let her know that she was a huge impact on my life in many ways. She was truly a gift to me and to so many other young people.

I served with Sis. Jackson for many years on the Senior Usher Board at New Testament Baptist Church. She was a faithful and dedicated 'soldier' in the Army of the Lord! She was 110% committed to her position as the board's Secretary! We loved her but God loved her best.

Mrs. Jackson was a great teacher. She taught at Del Paso Elementary when I attended back in the early 80's. She taught my daughter as well. My family and I would like to extend our condolences to the family. I would like to say there are no others like her. Her dedication will be truly missed!
