Roslyn E. Mills, 86, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center. Her life will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 4, 2006, at the VFW Post 1137, 2616 Napier Ave., in Benton Harbor. Memorials may be made to either Hospice at Home or to the Humane Society of SW Michigan. Those wishing to send the family a message of condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Roslyn was born on June 2, 1920 in Ogama, Wisconsin to Clarence and Vera Swanson. She was lovingly raised by her step-father, Ray Bock, Sr. along with her siblings, Donald C. Swanson, Marge (Johnson), Carlene (Freier), and Ray Bock, Jr., after her father passed away and her mother remarried. She also lived in Chicago, Hartford, St. Joseph and Benton Harbor. Roslyn grew up on a farm. Her parents worked together at their family owned upholstery shop in Chicago and Hartford. She married twice, once to Victor Baker and secondly to Ralph Mills. She had two children, Valerie and Brian. She was an artist who enjoyed painting and drawing. She often painted both sweatshirts and greeting cards. She was also known for her beautiful embroidery work. Roslyn enjoyed gardening. In her younger years, she enjoyed swimming in Lake Michigan. Roslyn is survived by her children, Valerie Bilisko and Brian Baker both of Benton Harbor; three grandsons, William A. and Dr. Thomas Bilisko, II and Brian Baker, Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Kyle Franks Baker, Cayla Baker, Joshua and Abby Bilisko; and by her siblings, Marge Johnson, Raymond Bock, Jr. both of Watervliet, and Carlene Freier of Benton Harbor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Victor J. Baker and Ralph B. Mills; her infant daughter, Sharon Baker; and by her brother, Donald C. Swanson.
