Roslyn Tunis

Finally published the love story and letters between Roslyn and Cyril, with some family history. Beginning at an early age, lasting forever. A showcase of passion, intellect, loyalty, devotion and humour - and rolemodels for the three kids, family and friends. Thanks mom and dad.

Last night I thought of Roz and how she helped me select fabulous gifts over 50 years ago for friends and family from the Roberson Museum of Art gift shop in Binghamton, N.Y. Some items (ceramic Turkish beehive covers, for example) never found their way as presents and are still hanging on my walls. I just couldn't part with them! Roz had impeccable taste. After reminiscing last night, I googled her name and discovered how impactful she also was on others during her many productive and loving years. My belated condolences to her family.

Thinking about mum today, and reading messages from friends and family - even those who might think we don't remember. We do because cyril and roslyn lived a full and complete life cherishing every single friend and loved one, and making sure we knew the importance of those relationships.

Dear Roz, what a sweet, beautiful and classy Lady - my heart goes out to her loved ones!
My husband and I were blessed to know Roz and Cyril as their gardeners at their fine home in Oakland, where I spent many very happy hours contentedly attending to her lush gardens, learning to calmly prune shrubs as bumblebees happily harvested pollen all around me.
I'll never forget how kind she and Cy were, treating us as family, feeding us and sharing wonderful conversations, tales of their travels and lives! She had the most amazing art pieces decorating her home, and was always pleased to share their histories.
We still have "To Life", Cyril's book of poetry; it is among our treasures.
Dave and I send our condolences to her beloved ones. We will remember her always!

You will not know me - although I think I have a vague recollection of Heather when I was a small boy. Cyril and Roslyn became friends of my parents, maurice and Maree Goldstone. When they lived in Manchester, England. They came to my bar mitzvah (and gave me a very sophisticated geometry set which I had no idea how to use) I was thinking about them only today because I was driving through the suburb where they used to live.(Urmston). What distinguished lives they both had, and I am only sorry that our families lost touch with one another.

My sincere condolences to the extended Tunis family on the sad news of your loss of Roslyn. She and Cyril were great friends of my late parents during the Binghamton years, and after. I remember her fondly. The news of her passing (via the Bing U alum magazine) came only this week.

I knew Roslyn Tunis as the mother of my high school friend Heather Tunis, as a friend of my cousin, artist Charles Jon Eldred and the curator of his noteworthy exhibition at Roberson Center. Last but by no means least, as a woman to look up to by her work and her life. I was learning to navigate life without role models for the life I was embarking on and I truly appreciated my exchanges with her and her acceptance. My condolences to Heather and her extended family.

Sending prayers for the family

Many years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Roslyn and her family. She was a lovely person with a great spirit and strong determination. I am sorry to hear of her passing and send my condolences to her family.

I think of you every day, mum. Through this image I keep you and your incredible spirit close by though I miss you so very very much.

Roslyn and her two sisters, Sally Ann and Reisha were five years apart in age, and maintained close ties throughout their lives. They were each creative in their own way, and they shared a passionate love of the arts and collecting. Their "sister trips" are famous, and though we don't know all the details, we know they were filled with laughter and the love that only sisters can share. Such love is forever.

I am so grateful to have known and spent time with Roslyn, first in the context of Sean and Nancy's holiday gatherings, and later as a knitting buddy -- sharing a love of color and fiber arts in her beautiful home. She always expressed such positivity and interest in others, even as she faced her last chapter. An inspiration in so many ways. I will miss our visits, and will always think of her with love.

We didn't know Roslyn personally, but felt like we knew her through stories shared by Lorraine. What an amazing woman that we wish we could have known. May her love and light be shared through the legacy left behind with her family. We are here to support and carry you as you hold this deep loss of a special human and mom. Always ((((((hugs)))))))!
