Ross Phillips

Lubbock- Ross Phillips of Wolfforth, Texas, passed away December 3, 2020, after a brave battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 80 years old. A memorial service will be held in his honor at a later date.

Ross was born in 1940 in Detroit, Texas, to Charlie and Euphronieous J.L. Phillips. He attended Turkey Texas High School. In 1960, Ross married Evelyn Hall in Brownfield, Texas, at the Four-Square Parsonage. He moved to Lubbock, Texas, in 1961 and went to work at C & B Lumber Company before working at Craig Builder's Supply and Ready Built Homes. Ross opened his own business, Phillips Ready Built Homes, in 1974 and built custom homes for 39 years before retiring because of his illness in 2013. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, watching Texas Tech Red Raiders sports and Dallas Cowboys football, and he never saw a slot machine he didn't like. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his two Yorkies Maggie and Molly. Ross was a soft-spoken, kind, gentle, and generous man. He was a great role model to all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of almost 61 years, Evelyn Phillips; daughters Ronda (Mark) Hobgood, Tonda (Mark) Morriss, Lynne Phillips; grandchildren Ashley (Jonathan) Brooks, Laura Petteway (Marco Bagnardi), Lynsey Webb, Krystle (Robert) Elliott, Ross Link, Kaitlain (Mark) Link, Christopher Hobgood, Williem Hobgood; great-grandchildren April Myers, Morgan Myers, MacKensie Martin, Kolton Martin, Lindon Brooks, Madelyne Brooks, Beckett Brooks, Maddisyn Webb, Marylin Thorne, Mason Thorne, Wyatt Hodges, Abigail Hodges, Jacob Elliott, Benjamin Link.

Ross was preceded in death by both of his parents, a grandson, Leit Martin, and siblings Charles Phillips, Bob Phillips, and Jack Phillips. Donations may be made in Ross' name to the Texas Boys Ranch or the Alzheimer's Association.
