Rowan STRINGER Obituary
Rowan Kerry Stringer, 17 of Ottawa, died suddenly May 12th as a result of injuries sustained in a rugby match. She was born June 25th, 1995 in Ottawa and was the daughter of Gordon and Kathleen (Hamilton) Stringer. Sadly missed by dear sister Cassie Stringer, grandparents Patrick and Shirley Hamilton of Ottawa. Wonderful niece to Steven Hamilton and Lara Theoret of Ottawa and Patrick Jr. and Patricia Hamilton of Brantford. Loved by cousins Lindsay, Collin, Spencer, Stuart, Aidan and Jaxon. Rowan attended John McCrae Secondary School where she was a member of the Link Crew and captain of the girls rugby team. She was accepted to the University of Ottawa's School of Nursing in the fall. Friday May 17th from 5 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the Metropolitan Bible Church on Saturday May 18th at 2 p.m. In Memoriam donations to the Pediatric ICU at CHEO or The Children's Wish Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family. Special thanks to the Emergency and PICU staff at CHEO.

Deborah Cioccio and myself (Ruth Cullen) of NALY Management Consulting are so sorry for your loss. It is with real sadness and sincere condolence that we will be making a donation to the Children's Wish Foundation.
My prayer is that all of the people who the Lord intended for Rowan to help in her life will be supernaturally healed and helped. Rowan was snatched from this world far too soon. May her intentions and caring for others be an example to many others to serve.
My prayers will continue to include you and your family for many weeks and months to come. My heart aches just thinking of what you are going through.
My daughter works at Blue Hills Child and family care services in Aurora. She wants you to know that their entire staff have been saddened by this death, and have discussed it in staff meetings to see the lessons learned and the impact of such a horrific accident.
May you find comfort and peace in the days to come.

I am so, so, so sorry for your loss. My daughter is 18 and last year started a rugby program at her high school because she loved the sport too. My 2 older sons and my daughter still coach the high school team and I am the manager. All of Howe Sound Rugby, in Squamish, BC are so sad.

My daughter started at John McCrae in the Fall of 2012 & was lucky enough to have Rowan as one of her Link Crew leaders. She helped our daughter during the difficult transition into High School & also during Girl Guides. We are very grateful for the kindness & caring that Rowan gave our daughter. When ash and stef told us about the accident. We felt so bad. We have fond memories of Rowan when she was just a novice ringette player. She loved to hang out with Cassie and her team mates. My sincere condolences to the the Stringer family on the tragic loss of their daughter Rowan Kerry.
Although I didn't know Rowan personally I was involved in rugby as a player and as a women's rugby coach for 30 years and specifically as a coach of women's rugby teams in Ottawa.
As a high school player and the captain of her team I know that Rowan would have been a confident leader, full of life, a great friend and a role model for her peers. I can only imagine what a great career in nursing she would have made for herself.
To lose such a daughter and friend so young is a terrible tragedy and we can only imagine what her family, teammates and friends are going through at this time.
The rugby community in Canada, like her family, are shocked and saddened by the tragic loss of one of their own and would wish to offer our sincere condolences and support.
