Rowland F. Thayer
Rowland F. Thayer, age 89, of West Haven, Connecticut, formerly of Stratford, husband of the late Eleanor Thayer, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2017.
Born and raised in Provo , UT, son of the late Frank and Lily Thayer. He was a Navy veteran of WW II and a retired general foreman of Textron. He was an avid skin diver and fisherman and enjoyed going to Mexico, Alaska, Canada, and New York on fishing trips .He is survived by two sons and two daughters, David Thayer and his wife, Kathleen of Colebrook, CT, Douglas Thayer and his wife, Paula of Pleasant Grove, UT, Lillian Thayer of West Haven, CT, and Kathleen Koch and her husband Tom of Milford, CT. He is also survived by two brothers Douglas Thayer of Provo, UT, Robert Thayer of Dunwoody, GA. He leaves behind his grandchildren Becky, Carley, Chelsea, and Courtney. He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Kristen and Bryce, and a sister Marlene Hill. He also leaves behind five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends to consider making a donation in memory of Rowland to UCONN Health Anatomical Donation Program AM049, 263 Farmington Ave., Farmington, CT 06030.
