Roxanne Clark Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 18 to Nov. 20, 2017.
Roxanne CLARK (Finnie) July 9, 1957 - November 6, 2017

Roxanne's family is enormously saddened to announce her passing on November 6, 2017 after almost 5 years of battling a brain tumour that was expected to take her within a year. She died peacefully at home, with her daughter Dalyce, by her side.

Her courage and tenacity were a testament to the strength and spirit of this amazing woman. Roxanne could have written a book on how to be resilient, fearless and fun in the face of a terminal diagnosis.

A native Victorian who loved her city, she had an incredible zest for life and lived it to the fullest.  She could regularly be found dancing her heart out to her favourite local band on Saturday nights. Her mother and daughter were very dear to her, as were her Persian cats, hairdressing, cooking wonderful meals, fashion and shopping! She had a keen eye, a sharp wit and discerning taste. A multitude of friends loved her, many that she'd known since childhood.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Dalyce Clark Rados (Tugo), her mother Yvonne Finnie, extended family and many friends. Roxanne was predeceased by her father, Bert Finnie.

A celebration of Roxanne's life will be held at a future date. She will be laid to rest at the Royal Oak Burial Park. Arrangements entrusted to McCall's.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Sears, Dr. McGhie and Dr. Fleetwood for the excellent care they provided Roxanne and Victoria Hospice staff for their kind support during the last several weeks. For those who wish, donations can be made to Victoria Hospice in Roxanne's memory: https://www.victoriahospice.org/donate.

Dear Yvonne, I so am sorry for your loss. Roxanne was my first love and I just found out about her passing.I loved her and she knew that - but I was so sorry to hear about her passing. Remember back in 77 when I came to your house and played ping pong with you Roxanne's dad? Nice times I will never forget.

Dear Yvonne and Dalyce, Your daughter and Mom was a very dear friend for many years and I really will miss her dearly. Rox had a special way of telling a story even if it wasn't really funny she would some how turn it around and we would laugh until tears ran down our faces. She was always there if you just needed to talk as well.
Dalyce and Yvonne, you have so, so many beautiful and fun memories to hold on to that will help you through this very sad time. Your Mom Dalyce was a very kind and loving person and she loved you and Yvonne with her whole heart and you always came first.
I am very proud to have called Roxanne one of my very good friends. I will miss her dearly. She will be with us in our hearts forever.

It is a lovely Obituary honouring Roxannes life as she was such a vivacious Lady.
I have many lovely memories as Roxanne cut my hair over the years and we would be trying to solve all the world's problems, I feel very blessed to have known her.

Dear Yvonne and Dalyce, I am shocked and saddened by this news. Roxanne was a bright light and I still remember her playing on the Shawnigan Lake dock with my little brother Dino when our families spent time together up there. I'm so glad I got to spend a little time with her again. I'm sure the angels rushed out joyfully to greet her and she's with her dad,Burt, but she will be missed here on earth. My love and condolences to you.

Dear Dalyce: Roxanne cut my hair for the last time this August. She said when she was feeling better she would cut my hair at her house. I met with her every six weeks for 25 years for a 'shampoo/cut' and some straight talk. She loved you and her parents dearly. I'm so glad she made it to your wedding & I'm happy you were with her at the end. Love, Sandra Glassel, former teacher at Rogers.

The world is definitely a duller place without Roxanne Clark. She had a contagious smile and her laughter was even more contagious. When I was a younger man she took on the role of a surrogate mother due to the fact that my mother was overseas working, and I was dating her wonderful daughter, and she addopted this role with as much, if not more resolve as mine own mother. This is just one small example of this awesome womens beautiful, generous soul. I hadent spoken to her lately, for only reasons that life had drifted us apart, but she crossed my mind often, I will always miss "my second mom" Roxanne Finnie Clark.
