Roxie O'Dell Knight

Roxie O'Dell Knight, age 90, passed from this Earth with family by her side, Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at Cox Hospital South after a brief illness. She was born May 8, 1915, in Reynolds County, Mo., to Orella Osan O'Dell and Effie Fern Rollins O'Dell. Roxie was baptized when she was 12. Roxie O'Dell married Roger R. Seward and to this union two daughters were born and survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and brother, Jean L. O'Dell. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Bob Baker, Springfield, Mo., and Carolyn and Marvin Green, Bois D'Arc, Mo. four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Roxie was a respected business woman she was a cosmetologist, owning and operating her own beauty shop, the former Hubba Hubba Beauty Shop on E. McDaniel downtown, relocating to the Lake Shore area in the early sixties. She also owned and operated the Little Chef Diner, downtown, and the Black Hat on Republic Road. Roxie was a loving mother and grandmother, she had many lifetime friends who still live in Springfield. It was her request that no services of any kind be held and that her body be cremated and laid to rest at a later date.
