Roy Beiber Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 29, 2025.
Roy "Butch" Beiber, of Siesta Key, Florida/ Moon Twp. Pennsylvania , passed away peacefully at home on May 27, 2025, with his beloved wife of 59 years by his side.

Born on November 30, 1946, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Roy carried the spirit of his hometown with him throughout his life. His early years in Pittsburgh shaped a lifelong love for the Pittsburgh Pirates-a team he followed faithfully and never missed a game.

Roy proudly served his country in the United States Navy, demonstrating a deep sense of duty and commitment that would continue to define his life. After completing his military service, he embarked on a long and dedicated career with US Airways, where he worked for 31 years. His professionalism and loyalty left a lasting impression on colleagues.

Family was at the heart of everything Roy did. He shared a loving marriage with his wife Cathy "Sis" Beiber, who remained by his side through every chapter of life. Together they raised two daughters: Deborah Beiber (Colleen) and Jennifer Pass (Bob). Roy took great pride in being involved in their lives-especially when it came to their sports activities-and he was always present to cheer them on from the sidelines.

That same unwavering support extended to his grandchildren, Anthony and Alaina. Roy was their number one fan, attending games and celebrating every achievement with enthusiasm and pride.

In retirement, Roy embraced life with energy and generosity. He was an avid golfer who relished time on the course and enjoyed friendly competition over card games. His passion for community service led him to volunteer with Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, and events at Siesta Harbor. Roy gave freely of his time to help others.

Roy's legacy is one of devotion-to family, service, community, and the simple joys that made life meaningful. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him and inspiration to those who carry forward his spirit of kindness and dedication.

Memorial services will be at a later time.

I do so appreciate knowing Roy and Cathy Beiber as they were two of the first people here at the Harbor to befriend us. My husband, John, really enjoyed Roy´s company as they could talk sports (especially baseball)! He also loved it when Roy brought Anthony (just a little guy) over also talk about baseball. Roy was always so nice to be around and I especially loved him at Bingo nights!!! Our Siesta Harbor family has lost a great friend.

Butch was so much fun on our Game Day Get Togethers. John and I will miss him terribly. We were just 20 years old when we met Sis and Butch. The friendship just grew over the years. Our love goes out to Sis and his family. Rest in Peace Butch. There will never be anyone like you again.

Cathy,
We are happy to have had the opportunity to get to know Roy over the past few years. Although it is a sad time, there is relief in knowing that Roy is no longer suffering. We enjoyed working alongside you and Roy putting up Christmas lights and competing on the shuffleboard courts. You shared a special bond with each other that will hopefully bring you peace and comfort. May he rest in peace.

Margaret and I are so sorry to hear of Butch's passing. I have so many fond memories of Butch as we met in 1967 while in the service. We spent time together sailing the seas and visiting the Far East when we served together on the USS New Jersey in Viet Nam. We kept in touch in the years following our service together and did a couple of small trips together in the later years. I am going to miss my dear friend. Anchors Aweigh my friend. Until we sail together again.

Sis and family, I'm so sorry to hear of Roy's passing. I have fond memories of your card games with my parents. Roy would always ask "where you going?" when my sister and I said we were going "out". Maybe Roy and dad can find a good card game in heaven.
