Funeral services for Roy Wesley Carnes Jr., 61, of Burke, will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Blackie Cranford and Bro. Bill Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at the Zavalla Cemetery. Mr. Carnes was born December 4, 1955 in Lufkin, Texas, the son of the late Roy Wesley Carnes Sr. and Billie Jean Buschman Carnes, and died Sunday, November 26, 2017 in Lufkin. He loved to fish, water ski, play dominos, and dance. Mr. Carnes enjoyed working with his dad at "Roy's Camp" at Hank's Creek. He was a member at the Chestnut Drive Baptist Church and he never met a stranger. Mr. Carnes is survived by his wife, Katrinka Carnes of Burke; children, Wes and Sandy Carnes of Lakewood, PA, Rece and Michael Steen of Oil City, LA, Joseph Carnes of Lufkin, TX, Amber Humphries of Lufkin, Bubba and Misty Norman of Lufkin, Cory and Jessica Norman of Arkansas; grandchildren, Ashton, Kyra, Will, Whitley, Claire, Blaire, James, Taylor, Grace, Brenden, Chasity, Kaityln, McKinzy, Dawson, Payton, Jaydon, and Jesse Paul; sister and brother-in-law, Dellene and Jerry Nelson of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Rhonda Carnes of Lufkin; special friends, J.T. and Sadie Jones of Burke; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Wes Carnes, Joseph Carnes, Michael Steen, Ashton Steen, Bubba Norman, and Patrick Buster. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cory Norman, J.T. Jones, Kenneth Morgan, Bruce Broussard, Marcelous Jones, Speedy Bounds, and Shaun Ward. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Musa Khan and the staff at The Heart Institute of East Texas.. Special Memorials may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W.
