I’m Free
Don't grieve for me for now I'm free. I'm following the path God has laid you see. I took His hand when I heard His call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day to laugh, to love, to work, or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. O yes, these things too, I will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full I savored much, good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee... God wanted me now. He set me free.

Aloha 'Oe brother Roy! Farewell to thee. You are my brother. So many good memories together that I will continue to cherish. Boyhood friends from Kapulena Loop in Hahaione Valley, along with the rest of the small kid time bike gang brothers - Rodney, Russell, Kevin, Stanton, Troy and so many others. Playing little league baseball together on the Athletics. You taking me golfing with your Pops and I would take you surfing with my Pops. Growing up into adulthood. From boys to men, literally. Keeping in touch and crossing paths so many times over the years. Always meeting up and giving brother hugs and never skipping a beat, picking up right where we left off. Always with Aloha for each other. You accepted my wife Loren with the same compassion and Aloha. You were an awesome Uncle Roy to my kids Sean and Caitlin. I speak for my entire family, to include my brother and sisters when I say I am sorry I could not say that final Aloha in person. I am confident that you knew you were loved hugely by us before you left to join our Heavenly Father. A Hui Hou brother.

Brother Roy, I will truly miss you and our times growing up. From elementary to high school. Growing up back then there was always things to do, we never had electronic toys we had the ocean and the mountains to play.
The days of our youth.
Aloha my Brother.

I was planning Roys celebration of life for April but instead I’m going to wait till September (his birthday week) or December after Christmas (his one year). So please be patient and let’s continue to keep well, wear your mask and keep your distance. This Covid is interfering with our lives and we need to take control of it now. God bless all of you.

Bye, Roy! Thought I missed you when you left Reno ... really miss you now knowing you’ve “moved” on. Just hope wherever your journey takes you that you’re riding on a carpet of “green” ... as in golf green ... fueled with the power of all the love and heart you gave out. Didn’t know you for very long ... what was it? About 5 yrs? Very seldom have I met someone and felt a goodness as kind as yours ... an aura of “heart” if you will ... but I felt it in you from the first time we met. Always looked forward to getting together with you. Truly enjoyed our golf rounds, but mostly “loved” our times together as we rolled along the cart paths from hole to hole. I can tell when a heart is good and your heart was really, really good! God Bless ... miss you ... and may you enjoy the beauty of many more courses along your new “cart path” ... and may you score a few “holes-in-one” along the way.
God Bless you, Robin ... I noticed that Roy had a goodness in him, but when you both married he really “glowed” ... like you empowered his very being with the love you gave him ... unconditionally! God Bless!

My bradda Roy, who I've known since 4th grade at Hahaione Elementary is a special person with unconditional friendship that spanned over 50 years. He knew my parents and I knew his. We went are separate ways after both graduating from Kaiser in '77. But 20 yrs. later reconnected on the Big Island when I returned to Hawaii. We shared many fun times together and would reminisce frequently our younger days. His favorite story (and there were many) repeated almost every time we got together, usually after a few "cold ones" (Heineken his favorite) was when we both made the Hawaii Kai Little League All-Stars team and played again Manoa with him pitching of-course. He was known for a high-velocity fast-ball and a wicked curve. I played left field on this day and with us barely leading by a run in the 6th inning with two outs and runners on 1st and 2nd base, I recall a loud (ping off the aluminum bat) looked up and saw a line-drive headed down the line and knew it was trouble. Roy had a "no-hitter" working at the time. Trying my best to keep an eye on the ball, I could also see Roy spin around in my direction with a smile on his face knowing the game was on the line. It didn't look good but I tried my best to get to the ball thinking I could get to it on the first hop and somehow hold the runner advancing to 3rd. Well, I stuck my glove in the air when reaching the line and somehow caught it in the outer web "shave-ice" style. I pretended not to be surprised and ran to the dug-out. Along the way, Roy was standing near the 3rd base line with that same smile on his face, but didn't say a word. Seemed like he had more confidence in me than I did,.We were good friends ever since!

We’ve known each other since the early seventies and have traveled together for golf. A friend indeed, having talked to a “ friend in need”. You’ll be missed. The courses here will miss you but the courses to be will greet you. Farewell my friend.
