Roy Hawkins Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 12, 2014.
Roy W. Hawkins Roy W. Hawkins, 71, of Harrisonville, PA died at 6:55 PM Monday, November 10, 2014, at Woodland Retirement Community, Orbisonia, PA, with his loving family at his bedside after a brief struggle with pancreatic cancer. Born October 13, 1943, at Knobsville, PA, he was the son of the late Boyd and Olive (Helman) Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins is survived by two brothers, Clair Hawkins, Harrisonville, with whom he resided, and Harry Hawkins, Hustontown, PA. Two brothers, Norman Hawkins and Raymond Hawkins, and one sister, Ruth Knepper are deceased. He attended Huston-town High School and was a lifelong resident of Fulton County, PA, rarely traveling outside his beloved home unless he was pursuing his love of hunting and fishing. He lived a great, humble life, always hard at work operating his family sawmill and farm, finding relaxation in watching old western movies and television shows. He was a man of few words, but never was one of those words hurtful or poorly intended. Roy had a huge heart and never failed to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by innumerable nieces and nephews, their children, grandchildren and scores of friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 14, 2014 at the M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Pitt St., Hustontown, PA, with Pastor Chris Elliott officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairview United Methodist Church, c/o Pastor Jean Swett, 1146 Waterfall Road, McConnellsburg, PA 17233; or to the Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 537, Hustontown, PA 17229. Online condolences and further information may be obtained at funeralfinder.com

Roy was a great uncle that when ever we would randomly stop in would stop what he was doing to visit with us always. He never hesitated on letting us know when a cat had kittens so we could go see them. He was a man of few words but he had a smile and a laugh that was sincere and genuine. Roy you will be missed but I know you are rejoicing with the lord and enjoying all the loved ones in the heaven above.
